Disadvantages: sellers are not protected enough
I am so furious i just had to write a review about ebay. If you are a seller, beware off the rules (yes rules i think they make up them selves as they go along). i sold a item for £53 and sent it recorded 1st class, yes I'm covered? sent it recorded with tracking and have full proof i sent it. awwwww no I'm not covered. The buyer says it didn't turn up. Ok the tracking details say its still in the system but i still thought i was covered as it was posted 1st class recorded, nope, not in the slightest. they refunded the buyer the whole amount including postage and there's not a thing i can do. Claim off the post office? nope, as it was jewellrey I'm not covered by them either. And now the best part! ok i lose the item, i lose the money so i think i'm not going to be charged fees as well. so i try get my fees back for this. What a joke, i cannot even claim my fees back for the item as they say case was won in the buyers favour. so in total i have lost over £60 on ebay with this 1 sale, so much for sellers protection??? my advice for anyone selling jewellery is only post out special delivery or with full online tracking and delivery and not recorded or you will not be covered at all by paypal, ebay or the royal mail. the problem with ebay is the have got so big they think they can do what the like. they have totally forgotton it was small sellers like us who got them where they are today and yet now they do nothing to help when a problem happens
Summary: make sure you read all sellers protection before sending out, recorded post will not protect you
