Great for buyers, sellers not so great

I have been buying and selling on ebay for a number of years now and buying is a great experience, its safe, secure, easy to do and easy to pay. For selling though, it's an absolute nightmare. There are tons of regulations you have to conform to, you pay an excessive 10% final value fee, then listing fees, then paypal fees (despite being OWNED by eBay) and then you get left with whatever little money there is. if you sell your old macbook for £600 you'll be lucky to get £500 for it, if that. £60 immediately goes to eBay, then you pay listing fees (varies) then you pay paypal fees (3% upwards) Just because you sold it on eBay? Sounds like someone is getting very rich indeed.
Buying is pleasant, you can sift through menu's, advance search and even get related items on your watch page or on the ebay page you are viewing. eBay also save your search history so you can call up whatever items you recently wanted and forgot about (happens to me all the time). The buying experience on eBay is legally protected so fake sellers and people chancing the law making a few quid and then getting banned don't actually get any money. Paypal will give you your money back and that's and end of it, they can take it from the sellers account, or just withhold the money if there's a problem, and they have done both for me before now.
Selling on eBay is just awful, i have since stopped selling on eBay after losing money by selling things and making next to nothing for items of high value. They take a hefty fee in three places as mentioned above and you get the pennies left. You really are selling to help eBay out. I sold something for 99p once, put the exact postage on and because it needed to be shipped to the highlands which i had not realised costs more, i actually had to pay out to sell my item. Then there is the legality of returns and you have to get your description pin point accurate so you don't risk getting bad feedback, a return or even a ban from eBay.
eBay is a legal and financial minefield not for the faint of heart when it comes to selling. Buying though? it's just like amazon. a very pleasant way to shop with easy to navigate pages, helpful staff and fast payment methods.
Summary: Buy don't sell.
