eBay is probably the most well known online retailer, especially auction retailer. It started back in 1995 and has since become the best auction site on the internet.
WHAT IS IT?
Basically eBay lets you sell or buy almost anything simply using their website or smartphone app. It has two options "auction" or "buy it now". The 'auction' option is like a normal auction, you bid however much your willing to pay for an item and at the end of the auction if your the highest bidder you buy the item. The 'buy it now' option was introduced so people can buy the item straight away and have to wait or enter a bidding war. Both types of auction are for set amount of days, usually between 1 and 10 days.
The website has had a few makeovers in the past but its very easy to use. Its rather a simple plain layout yet everything you need is right there. On the homepage (and the top of every page) is a search box, this is the simplest and quickest way to search for products on the site, it gives a nice drop down menu with hints on what you may be searching to save time. Alternatively the "departments" are located on a drop down menu so you can just browse for example "DVDS". The sign up is simple and quick, and its easy to sign in. Back on the homepage theres boxes on their with your "latest searches" "recently viewed items" and "your winning" you can scroll through these boxes and they are self explanatory I find these very good if I am in a hurry and want to glance at what I am bidding on for example.
I have not sold on eBay for a while but I will quickly say that last time I did it, it was so quick & simple to do, its as easy as following the prompts, it tells you exactly what information to type and you can customise the whole thing.
Buying on eBay is so simple and quick to do, whether bidding or buying an item straight away, to "buy it now" just click the button or type in your bid and click "bid", when it comes to paying, you pay usually through Paypal which is an extremely secure and safe way to pay for things using your credit or debit card. Paypal is actually part of eBay. You can also then review the seller and give them a star rating so others know whether to trust the seller in future. These star ratings show up on the items page and the sellers profile.
eBay has a variety of Smartphone apps which I have on my iPhone. All of them are free on your app store and allow you to do all the main features of the website but optimised for smartphones. I really like the app, especially the standard app for when you want to buy things its so easy to use.
My overall opinion of eBay is that it's a very good site, I have never really had many problems, maybe the odd one or two but eBay are a very safe & secure way of buying both used and new items, don't think i'd buy clothes from there but I have bought countless other items and sold a fair bit too.
Summary: Recommend it
