Ebay for a bargain

Advantages: Can find some great bargains
Disadvantages: So many items it is hard to find what you are looking for
Who doesn't love bargain?
If you have never used Ebay before then stop right here and go over to Play.com or Amazon unless you have a lot of time to spend trying to find what you are actually looking for.
If you are a seasoned Ebay user then you know what I will be talking about.
I have used Ebay for various reasons over the years and it has always done me well. As someone who goes to 'cyber' nights and is into goth fashion finding clothes at a decent price that fits well is very hard (especially living somewhere where all the decent shops don't exist) and that is where Ebay filled my niche. At the time I didn't mind buying stuff secondhand because I could get the item I wanted without paying the prices I didn't want.
Later on in life I started running my own small business and Ebay did me proud again. I was able to get the stock I needed at a snip of the price (sometimes by the same seller but cheaper than their own website) without compromising on the quality. This has meant a lot as my business was able to grow a lot faster than predicted.
Ebay has not come without its problems for me though and this has come in all sorts of forms. I have had items not turn up and only received half the money back, items turn up not as described etc and it is a pain in the proverbial buttocks to have to go through all the hassle of getting Ebay involved and sorting it all out. Luckily for me these situations I can count on one hand out of the hundreds of transactions i have done with the website.
Then there is the problem of finding that one elusive item you are searching for.
The more you use Ebay the more techniques, hints and tips you tend to pick up on the way but there are occasions where it still requires a lot of trawling through pages of stuff nothing like what you are looking for to find the one item you are. That is where I would recommend just using another website if you don't have the time to do that.
The features of Ebay do help to narrow down the trawling if you have time to dedicate to a few trawls first. The saved sellers list is my saviour of the website. For all the people I have bought from (particularly in regards to stuff for my business) and had a positive experience, I simply save them onto the list and then I just go with those same people and see what they have to offer me instead.
So, in short, Ebay is not worth the hassle unless you are after browsing for items or secondhand, cheaper items. Otherwise, stick with better alternatives.
Summary: Great for seasoned users but can be daunting for others
