Advantages: More visitors, Easy to use
Disadvantages: You have to pay
Ebay is a really great place to buy and sell stuff. It is the most popular auction site and has many, many people visiting it.
If you want to sell stuff to a larger number of people than on Yahoo Auctions for example, this is the place to do it. The only problem is, you have to pay for it. I sell quite a number of things of online auctions, the majority though costing less that £15. To do a dutch aution for 20 things that cost £1.75 on ebay costs £1.25, but on Yahoo it is free.
Here is my guide to buying and selling and which sites you should do it on.
Want lots of people to see the item you are selling and don't mind paying: Ebay
Want some people to see what you are seeling and don't want to pay: Yahoo
Looking for a bargain: Aucland or Fsauctions
Want to buy new products cheaper than in shops: QXL
Generally I find the prices when buying things are cheapest on Yahoo, but you'll just have to wait a while before it comes up.
A strange thing on ebay is that if you want the product you are selling to have a buy price, that buy price disappears after 1 person has bid on it, therefore making it impossible to have dutch auctions with buy prices.
