Advantages: Loads of categories, Great fun, Buy or sell

Disadvantages: Need to trust people you dont know

As I have only ever purchased items on this site, I think it only fair that I comment on this side of the site only.
I have used e-bay for about 2 years now, mainly purchasing from one particular category. However I do browse through most of the other categories. E-bay is a site, which basically offers most items second hand, however don't think that this means items are not in good condition, you would be wrong. Probably 95% of items for sale are of good quality. Many of the sellers are regulars to the site, so only sell good condition products. There are absolutely loads of different categories on this site. In fact way too many to mention. If you don't believe me then visit them at www.ebay.co.uk

You can check out the site without registering, but if you wish to purchase something then you must become a member. The process takes just a few minutes, and is completely free. Once you become a member, you can access your members page. This features a lot of different options for you. It's great if you want to use this site regularly. It will tell you what items you have bid on. What price the bid is at the moment, and what items you have won. You can also access the feedback page from here. This is where buyers and sellers leave feedback regarding their transactions. This may seem like a pain, especially if you have purchased a number of items, but it is always good to leave positive or negative feedback to help fellow e-bayers choose their buyers / sellers more easily. A word of warning with this though, make sure that the feedback is definently what you want to say, as you are unable to change it once you hit send. Please do not leave offensive feedback; you can still leave bad feedback, while remaining constructive.

Once you have found an item, which you are interested in. Make a bid. You will be offered the option of leaving an amount, which can be your maximum price. E-bay will bid no higher than this amount, but you could stil
l get the item for less, if no one else wants it. Once your bid has been successful, and the auction has ended, you will receive an e-mail from the seller. If you can't wait, you may always send an e-mail first. The seller will usually let you know how much the total is including p +p. plus their name and address.
Most sellers accept cheques and postal orders, and a few will accept bid bay or pay pal.
Something to remember, add a note with your payment stating, items numbers, your name and address. E-mail?s have been known to get lost / deleted. Accidents do happen. Within a few days (longer if you pay by cheque) you will receive your items from the postman.

That's pretty much it, so all that's left to say is: Happy bidding
