Advantages: Easy to Use, Anyone with access to the internet can look at my shop, Free first picture and only 10p for each additional one
Disadvantages: Costs can mount up if you get carried away listing, Non-Paying bidders can be a pain
I have made jewellery for many years, and started a small business in my spare time last November, selling mainly online using Ebay.co.uk.
At first I used to just list the jewellery items, then I decided to open a shop on Ebay. This was the best move I could have made. My sales increased as did my feedback. I have returning customers. All this because of Ebay. Even when I don't have time to put any effort into the business, the goods are always in an auction or waiting to be instantly bought. I can take credit cards and debit cards thanks to the Ebay payments system, Billpoint, as well as cheques and postal orders. They make it very easy to do.
Ebay may seem like an auction site for second hand or rejected goods, many other people with Ebay shops sell new goods. The range of goods is amazing, if you are looking for something, take a look at Ebay, it is bound to be on there.
I have bought things from re-conditioned computers to cassette tapes.
The only downside is the cost which does mount up, even though it is only from 15p to list an item, although every couple of months Ebay do free listing days, where it is your chance to list as much as possible for free! Pictures are free for the first one and 10p each after that.
The feedback facility is fantastic, others can look to see what you are like as a buyer/seller and as more people give feedback your star rating goes up.
Ebay is simple to use and reaches a vast amount of customers, in many different areas, you can even buy some items from overseas for a bargain if the postage costs aren't too high.
I have been on other free auction sites, but Ebay definately has the best traffic and range of goods, so sometimes it obviously pays to charge for auctions.
Well I am off to Ebay to see if I can buy some more cassettes for my car!
Have fun bidding at Ebay, but beware it is addictive!
