Advantages: Seller economics and friendly atmosphere

Disadvantages: less traffic than the larger auction site

When I sold through ebay, every month brought confusing new changes that seemed designed to force me off of the site. Despite my PowerSeller status, I just could not compete with the huge mega-stores on ebay. Fees to ebay and PayPal ate up 30% of the monies recieved for any transaction. Ultimately they decided how I could accept payment and when I had any difficulty with them or PayPal, there was no where to turn for help. The pair of them have sellers trapped.
Not so with ebid. I have signed up for the Seller Plus package, can use whatever payment methods I choose, and keep a much greater share of the monies generated by the sale of my items. The ebid community is friendly and supportive and I can get my questions answered easily. Unlike the ebay forums, you aren't risking decapitation by asking a question on ebid. The site administrators make frequent appearances in the forums so you know they are around, and are even offering a cash prize to the winner of the bonny baby contest in February 2009. Granted, the site does not have the traffic that ebay does, but it also does not have the huge drawbacks of the larger site. My listings appear prominently in Google search results and overall, I just couldn't be happier than I am right now at www.ebid.net.

Summary: Life is too short to grind it out at ebay
