Advantages: Cheap, good range of selling options

Disadvantages: No buyers, site is a bit complex

ebid is an online auction site in a similar vein to eBay where you can both buy and sell items of all varieties. I've been a keen user of eBay recently and was turned onto eBid by another review on this site saying that it was a great alternative, if not better than eBay. Unfortunately, I have not found this to be so.

If buying, I think these sites are much of a muchness although given that eBid is still less popular than eBay I imagine you can get a bargain more easily here. The real differences occur as a seller.

Ebid has one advantage over it's rival and that is that you are not charged for listing an item (eBay charges a minimum £0.10 for any listing over £0.99). They also have lower final fees if you sell an item. Both of these are huge pluses given eBay's price hike of late.

Unfortunately, this is only any use if you can actually sell something. And I have failed to. Items for sale were the types of things I would list on eBay and sell but here I couldn't raise a bid. This is a shame because the selling service is actually also more flexible than eBay too in the different selling options you have.

The site is also less user friendly and the layout of things can be complicated. Where eBay is simple eBid feels convoluted and confusing which i think is mostly down to the design of the site.

Great pricing but until it becomes more popular, I'm going to stick with it's more popular rival. They may fleece me, but at least I'm selling.
