eBid is a great alternative or additional site to use for online auctions
Member Name: bykimbo
Advantages: Low cost, friendly, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Lower traffic than big players
I've been selling online since 2003, and have used most of the big sites. Some work better than others, some cost more. For a good compromise between results and expense, eBid is the best I've found. There's no doubt that it gets less traffic than the big players, but it takes way less of my money too and leaves me a healthy profit on the sales I do make.
It's easy and free to join, though the various descriptions of the different types of account seem to confuse some people. Take your time, read the help pages that explain the account levels and understand that the subscription fees will recur until you choose to leave. I'd recommend the lifetime seller plus anyway, as it's fantastic value and you only have to pay the once. There's a pretty much permanent "special offer" on that means if you upgrade to lifetime within 24hours you get it half price.
Listing is free thenceforth, and for the standard "gallery" style listing that includes a thumbnail picture in search results (recommended) you only pay 2% Final Value Fee if you make a sale.
The invoicing procedures are a little creaky, but the forums are friendly and helpful if you need extra advice. Definitely worth a look.
Summary: An excellent alternative site for small-scale sellers, and a useful extra shop-window for the rest.
