Advantages: More chance of your auction being viewed an bid on, Most user are reliable
Disadvantages: Small charge for selling goods, Live Auctions aren't very good
I've used QXL for well over a year now and have found a number of bargains on offer if you have a good look round. Their £1 no reserve auctions are the best hot spots for bargains where you can actually buy things for a quid, there is usually a shipping charge but thats often very low £1 or £2. The best offers I've seen on QXL have to be on computer software, the number of games I have bid on and won that cost a £1 and only £1 postage and packing is unreal, how can they be making any money I ask. There are alot of other good offers on the site and you tend to find people who bid on the auctions are good customers i.e, pay on time and deliver the goods etc, etc. If you've never used QXL before and were unsure about bidding on an auction its always worth just checking the sellers history, if they have any, as that often tells you if they are trust worthy. Most auctioneers have ratings by now so its not to bad, but it is worth being wary if your not sure, don't be afraid to ask questions. The only thing I have got to say about QXL that is against them, is there live auctions aren't very good. I've participated in an auction were they believed that the highest price was not what they were looking for and there would not sell to the highest bidder. Which I thought was unfair to the person who had the highest as he was on to a real bargain. If they are not going to sell at the highest bid on the Live Auctions why bother or clearly state that there is a reserve price on that item, so people know where they stand. Overall, my dealings with QXL have been very good and would recommend this service to other people, you will find there are less time wasters on QXL than with other auction sites like Yahoo!, but this is only because there are probably 10 times the number of auctions on Yahoo! and alot of them are junk or useless advertising. With QXL there is more chance of people visiting your auction, because
all the junk auctions are filtered out by charging a small price to sell anything on the site. It is more beneficial to you if you pay the small charge and somebody see's and bids on your auction, rather than post it on a free site and it gets lost amongst all the others. Before you sell anything its always worth a check aswell to see if anybody is selling something similar to you, that way you don't price yourself out of the market. Happy Bidding...and selling!

- 25/06/01 There's something about online auctions I don't trust, maybe it's time I got over it. |
