Swaphut.com is basically nothing more than an auction website. The website claims to allow you to “swap” goods however when people are selling a hi-fi for example and want a video you can’t exactly do a straight swap. The vast majority of people on swaphut.com use it as an auction website to get rid of things they don’t want. Recently, a number of websites have sprung up that offer you the opportunity to swap your CDs, videos, software and other bits and pieces for somebody else’s. Swaphut is marginally successful in this role but it is not the best. It’s free, so already you have nothing to lose by joining and giving it a whirl. The website is fairly well organised, navigation is logical and it’s quite fast. It has a broad range of items to buy and sell, far in excess of Swapitshop for example. However, unless you have access to free postage, you have to question how likely it is that you’ll be swapping items as large as office furniture and boats and what ... Read the complete review

The SwapHut service offers you the choice to use cash or items you have to exchange for items you want. You can also simply sell anything you have or buy anything you want! ... I've used auction and classified sites before, and had fun doing so, but my rate of success wasn't very impressive and it took ages before I knew if I had got an item or not! I was also stumped when it came to making bids as my cash flow isn't all that impressive! However, I was recommended SwapHut by a friend who had used it - and it's fab! It also helps that it's free! I don't have to use cash to get an item - I can use old items that I don't want anymore! You list items that you want to get rid of and bid for other things with these, or use cash if you want. Alternatively, you can wait for offers on your items to flood in. On ... Read the complete review

I joined the swaphut a few months ago after following a link from another site, with the hope of selling some unwanted goods that I've been meaning to gather together for a carbooty since about 1973!* For of course this is what swaphut is all about. You add some unwanted items, possibly place a couple of wanted items and then let the punters punt, sorry that was my opinion on the oxford canal, I meant to say then let the puntering, erm, haggling begin! On first impressions the site looks really great. Easy instructions and some rather sleek, but non-the-less informative toolbars, with every function needed. You've got your information about the site in ... Read the complete review
