Advantages: swap stuff
Disadvantages: people mite not send there swap in!
Webswappers are the new owners of the brilliant (but annoying) swapitshop. They have taken over a wonderful site, which was fun and easy to use and turned it into an annoying load of rubbish. I only registered for Webswappers today and I am already starting to see major faults. There are many swap web site like this around now (Swap CD, swapitshop etc) and this seems to be the biggest and most popular one I have come across. This probably because it is worldwide and you can get imported CD?s for stuff you don?t want. The biggest thing up for swap is a car. ~ What is the deal? ~ This isn?t run like any other swap site I have come across. You don?t work on sawpits of points; you just swap what you want for what you don?t. There is a major downfall because of this though. Example: I have: A piece of paper I want: An Xbox. The people obviously don?t have to swap or anything, but it clutters up the site and makes it more difficult for people who really do want to get on with it. ~ The site ~ The site is set out and is very user-friendly. When I first logged on I realised that this was a very easy to use site. It has a list of all the ?premier swaps? (the swaps that people have paid to have put on the front page.) and has a huge list at the bottom of the page with all the categories for the swaps on. ~ A small list of the main Categories Cars and Motoring Can you believe that people would actually swap cars over the Internet? How much would it cost for postage? Computers You can swap parts, games or all of your P.C on here. Make sure that you delete all of your personal info from it first though. Electrical Appliances I have seen somebody try to swap a plasma TV on this part of the site. Why? Are they mental? Hobbies / Collectables This is obviously a big one for the children who go on the website who want to swap a Pok
emon card for all your money. It also has a load of those power pod things as well. Homes and Gardens This has to be the join 1st most stupid thing to swap on the site (the other one is coming later). You can trade where you live with someone else. I wonder if anyone would like to swap a beach side mansion is Australia for a council house in Manchester? Job Swaps This is the joint first place. You can swap a non-profit organisation job or a work experience job. I think it is if you want it though, not to swap. Music & Movies This one is for all of those teenage girls out there, trying to get rid of the Linkin Park album for misteeq or similar. It also is full of old dire movies from the early 70?s that nobody has ever heard of. Pc & Video Games Always a major part on any swap site, the game. Like all the others, though, it is filled with rubbish. Have: An N64 with 1 game Want: A play station 2 or Xbox. Phones & coms. Where you can trade also sorts of communication devices, from the teenage fashion accessory, mobiles phones, to fax machines. Sports & Leisure For some reason, caravans are under this section. You can swap football, bikes, cricket bats etc. on this part of the site Toys & Games This part is made up of monopolies with half of the hotels missing and half chewed baby toys that the dog has been using as a toilet for the last 3 years. Others On the other ones that I have not mentioned, you can do other things like swap domain names for your site and change online currency. ~ Navigation ~ Navigation is easy by the side bar, which offers you to register, log in, add something you have or add something you want. ~ Registering ~ It is all the usual on this, username, email address, password etc. No worries there. ~ Adding a Swap ~ Now that you are registered, you can put something that you w
ant to get rid of on the site. I will do it step-by-step so all of you unintelligent people out there can keep referring back to this when you are stuck on the site. ~ Click on 'Place a Swap - I have' This could be tricky. Getting your mouse over to the left hand side of the screen and click the left mouse button. Keeping trying it. Once you know how, you will be a whiz in no time. ~ In the ?Title? section, put what you want to swap. Easy now, try and press the letters on the keyboard, which will spell the name of the thing you, want to swap. Take it one letter at a time and you?ll be fine. ~ Choose the category for it to go in Now you have to deal with a drop down menu to choose which section it should go in. For example, Robbie Williams should go under the music category under the section ? rock and pop?. A Pokemon card, however, should not. ~ ?Description? In description, say what the product is, what it is like and why you are getting rid of it. ~ Price In the box for price, put how much it is worth now. Be honest. You can just check on the Internet to see if you are being truthful. ~ Adding a Photo If you wish to add a picture of your swap, you can do so. It has to be a real picture, not one you drew yourself. ~ Completing Click on ?save? to complete. ~ Offers It then offers you loads of different options. Do you want it to be on the front page for £3 a week? Do you want insurance? If so, do what it tells you. Otherwise, forget it. ~ Finishing Click on Finish whatever it says at the bottom. ~ My Experiences ~ Seeing as I only registred today, I haven't had many. I have had an offer rejected and have put 2 swaps up on the site, but, thus far, nothing has come off it. ~ Will I Stay on? ~ Yes, I probably will keep putting things on the si
te. If you are like me, you will have loads of useless old stuff lying around underneath your bed, in your loft or behind a cabinet that someone else would walk on water to get. ~ Overall ~ I am yet to swap anything on this site. It looks good, it has even stolen the swapitshop sign to put on its own site. I personally don?t think that this site could be improved, other than to weed out all of the stupid worthless swaps that will never be bid for. Go to go now, I am searching for some rare Iron Maiden CD?s. Remember This is my first ever opinion on dooyoo.co.uk and I don't want you to feel sorry for my or give me a good rating just because that is what it is (tongue twisted!).

- 02/04/02 I agree with ben - this would have had the edge if you'd been with the swap site long enough to actually do business with them. He's also right when he says it's a good first Opinion (much better than mine was : )) From one Iron Maiden fan to another - welcome, stick around, and have fun : ) |

- 02/04/02 Are you saying it's great or rubbish? You seem to say both at different points. Probably just me being thick - welcome to Dooyoo! |
