Advantages: Cheap stuff!, Convenient, Some nice people selling on there.

Disadvantages: Crooks sell thing so watch out!, Lots of counterfeit cd's and games, posed as originals, Yahoo couldn't care less!

Yahoo auctions is one of 2 auction sites I use, the other one being Ebay, which is a far superior site that Yahoo anyday.

I have noticed that some things that sell like wild fire don't sell at all on Yahoo, as there is hardly any members there, and most of the things I buy on Yahoo, I get for next to nothing, which I'm happy about!!

The bad side to Yahoo is that its full of counterfeit games, and cd's, with sellers openly admiting that they aren't originals, so it doesn't look like yahoo bother to regulate their site, although this is against Yahoo's TOS.

This all sounds like I hate Yahoo, I don't, it's just not the best auction site arround, and unlike Ebay, their auctions are not insured. My fiance bought a Dreamcast game, "Skies of arcadia" for £11. We sent off a cheque, and we got a email saying he was posting it, so we waited, and waited, and waited...(You get the picture!!) And nothing, we looked at this sellers profile, and there were a lot of recently written negative feedbacks, baisically saying that they had been ripped off just like us, we are in the process of trying to get our money back via the bank, as Yahoo have ignored all emails, and are letting this seller carry on ripping off people!!! I should have known it was fishy when he wanted his cheque posting to a p.o. box no.

If you are thinking of buying from a seller on Yahoo be careful, check the feedback, and
make sure they are trustworthy, like most of them are, but there is always one who will give the others a bad name. I know £11 is nothing to some people, but this guy sold 10 copies of the same game, that was £110. that he made on one game alone!

So like I said, there are a lot of great sellers on Yahoo, you've just gotta look out for the crooks!

Some good and helpful advice based on your experiences (good & bad). I've suffered similar problems and Yahoo basically didn't want to know. On the other hand, eBay seem to be the complete opposite.

One thing I did find misleading are the amount of members. Yahoo has a massive amount of members, but only a small percentage are active. Most of the users are American.
