Advantages: Price is very reasonable, looks good, performs well, does the job
Disadvantages: none
These are just speakers, so there's only so much I can say!
BACKGROUND INFO: In the past I've opted for cheap £10-20 computer speakers, but due to high use, I accepted I needed to spend more.
After a looking around for a while I found these at argos for around £45, even though they look fashionable and cool, I could almost sense the quality involved. I was not disappointed - I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS WHAT SO EVER.
They provide quality 'full bodied' sound that does surprise, does deliver and makes you feel smug you bought something really great! They easily fill a room for pleasurable DVD viewing.
You can buy an extra set with a base box, but for watching DVD's I don't believe it's at all necessary. If however you like playing computer games or you use yor PC as a primary source for listening to music, you 'may' wish to opt for this extra gear.
The right channel speaker has easily volume/off and tone control.
They look pretty good and are minimal in size, there's no tacky chrome, just the little plastic chrome around the speakers...to let you know where the speakers are. They are well designed and aesthetic on the eyes - this is not why I bought them as I prefer form over function.
I really like them and have used them for at least 6 months with no faults or failures.
I would suggest that you ensure you don't leave them plugged in as the transformer is integrated with the plug and gets rather hot, despite the finned design (like a car engine...if you remember what they used to look like!).
I hope this is of use to someone.
Summary: Well worth considering if you wish to watch DVD's and perhaps a little music/game play
