BIG sound - small sub.....small speakers....must be magic!

I bought a refurbished set of these speakers for just under £60 including postage at the beginning of this year and haven't looked back since!
They retailed at £119.99 when I purchased them so got off to a good start with a half price deal!

      Whats in the box:
      AC Adapter
      External Digital Decoder
      Remote Control (w/ batteries)
      Speakers (x5)
      Speaker Stands
      Subwoofer (x1) (mains powered)

Opening the package I already realised it was a great buy when I looked at the remote....
Its so handy and im so lazy!!
It has all the basic functions you need (power, volume etc) but also has the option to switch between the three different inputs!!
These are optical, coaxial, and line in.
I use the coaxial connection from my Creative Audigy soundcard and the sound i get is amazing.
The external decoder which comes with the kit automatically changes its output signal to dolby digital (previously known as AC3)when connected to the digital out giving perfect 5.1 surround sound in DVDs and also games. It also has buttons on the decoder to change all the settings of the centre speaker, subwoofer, and the surround volume.
There is also the option to change from stereo, dolby pro logic, and dolby digital on the decoder. When set on pro logic, cds and mp3's really come to life through windows media player as the external decoder does all the work for your system!

The optical connection is currently connected to the PS2 immersing me in all the latest games.

The line in is most useful for portable players etc, which have a headphone socket. The sound from this is not great but the other two previous connections are really the main reason these are such a great buy!

The 5 speakers that come with it look deceivingly small but give out such a clear crisp sound which i have never really heard before having previously owned a very cheap sound system.
The two rear speakers come with enough cable to reach the back corners of a fair sized room and they all come with brackets to sit them on.

The subwoofer is a sturdy piece of equipment which pumps out a LOT of bass! (70Watts of power from the whole system in fact) Its great for the kind of music i enjoy (rock/alternative punk and some hip hop) and genuinely gives a feeling of being out at a gig...almost.

The package comes with all the neccessary cables to get you started but would recommend purchasing higher quality cables to get the most of the system.

The actual look of the setup is quite stylish and doesnt look tacky in the slightest. The decoder is very sleek and the sub is very compact without any unneccessary packaging around it which you sometimes get on cheaper systems that want to look like they do so much more!

To summarise, these speakers are well worth the money that sometimes i think someone has really sneaked in behind me when watching a film - the surround really is that good!!
They are compatible with pretty much anything due to the 3 different inputs - It can easily do the job as a one system does all machine!
