Advantages: Looks good and has an impressive sound quality.

I was looking for something to replace my present cd/radio. I wanted to listen to my Ipod rather than messing about with CD's or listening to music I didnt like on the radio. So I searched and searched for the perfect dock to accompany my Ipod Touch. Finally I came across the Gear4 Bass station, one of the cheapest out of the top 5 docks I found on a review site. I decided to give it a go.

When I first got the box, I thought it was going to be HUGE, so was a little worried. But I was was happy to find that it was about the size of a mini hi fi system, so it won't take up the whole room. Its big enough to not look cheap, but not too big to look strange.

The 2 speakers and subwoofer are all enclosed inside one rectangular unit. It is primarily black in colour with white trim around the edges. It comes with power lead, 5 ipod docking bays and a jack for other MP3 players. Aswell as a small remote control.

There arent alot of features, it is pretty basic, which isn't a bad thing. Just plug in your ipod and you are pretty much good to go. If you must there are bass and treble adjusters to tweak it to your preferred levels.

So I connected my ipod touch to it and selected a song and turned it up as far as it would go. I was very impressed, no distortion or hissing and impressive bass from the 15w subwoofer and the sound from the 35w speakers was great. I tried a wide range of songs from Rock to Classical and it all sounded great.

So all in all I think this is a great dock, however it is no good for portability and it is definitly a stay at home dock. It looks stylish and modern without looking cheap. It is by no means a cheap item, but it isn't one of the more expensive ones either so it is up to you to decide what you want to pay. But i think this is a fabulous station and the sound quality is excellent. What more could you want?
