I have used the IPod Classic and touch varieties with this device and both work fine. There is an auxiliary input though so you could play other devices through the speaker. For its size the speaker can get pretty loud and fill a room with sound. However the louder it goes the poorer the quality of the sound. For just putting background music on thi...more

I decided a few weeks ago that it was time that I moved with the times and treated myself to an MP4 player. As a part-time dance teacher I have to cart about an inordinate array of CD, tapes and CD players, along with all my dancing gear, so I decided to buy myself a decent player and docking station so I could put all my dancing music on, therefore reducing the amount of stuff I carry and also saves me leaving important CDs at home! Whilst browsing for a suitable player and docking system I stumbled across this in my local Boots store, it was reduced to £39.99 and I had enough advantage card points to buy it, so I asked the sales assistant for a little more ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Ipod + This Docking Station = Hi-Fi - Great Sound, Remote Co ... (393 words)

Having recently purchased an Ipod 120gb ClassicRem (see review) I decided to purchase a docking station. I looked at a number of different docking stations and decided upon the Gear4 Houseparty 3 from Argos. The most important aspects to me were the fact it had a remote control so I could control my Ipod from the comfort of my armchair and the fact it charged the Ipod too. But for the £45 or so I paid for it, it is so much more than I expected. The sound quality is excellent and can be turned up really high with no distortion to the music. It is like having a hi-fi in my living room, yet about 5 times small. It has a built in FM radio ...  Read the complete review

I was bought this device as a birthday present and I can say I have been very happy with it so far. The House party three is a stylish speaker system from gear4 that features a slide out iPod dock, auxiliary input socket and built in FM radio. This dock looks great, the black speaker plastic, grey speaker and blue LED lights give it a modern look. The dock pops out of the speaker when it's not in use. When you are using the device red LED lights display what mode you are using and what volume it is set too. This device is designed primarily for the iPod series of mp3 players. Premium Review Gear 4 Houseparty III - Gear up for the time of your life (168 words)

I have very little fault with this product. For starters the loudness is often superior to all other docks I have experienced and at the highest of volumes is still able to retain audible sound quality. I bought this particular speaker to ask as our 6th form common room audio system and was impressed. It filled the surrounding area with sound without a problem and worked with all models of ipod (including the latest nano). What was also particularly impressive was its ability to widstand a fair amount of abuse. Despite being bashed around it never once had a hickup. Another great feature which was useful was the ability to control the ipod menu bases system remotely. ...  Read the complete review

Looks good and has an impressive sound quality. Too big to be portable.

Simple set up, great range, long battery life, decent sound quality, can control media player Sound quality drops off at high volume, pricey at RRP
