Having recently purchased an Ipod 120gb ClassicRem (see review) I decided to purchase a docking station.

I looked at a number of different docking stations and decided upon the Gear4 Houseparty 3 from Argos. The most important aspects to me were the fact it had a remote control so I could control my Ipod from the comfort of my armchair and the fact it charged the Ipod too.

But for the £45 or so I paid for it, it is so much more than I expected. The sound quality is excellent and can be turned up really high with no distortion to the music.

It is like having a hi-fi in my living room, yet about 5 times small. It has a built in FM radio which is also great. We keep this in the living room to listen to our music collection and now I can listen to the radio whilst playing on my xbox too.

Having said that the size of the docking station allows you to move it from room to room with ease. I even take it upstairs to my PC when I want to add music. This docking station has a USB connection. This means I can leave the Ipod sitting in the docking station and attach the Ipod cable from my computer to the docking station and update the Ipod this way. Therefore music I play through Itunes etc comes out of these excellent speakers, so they double up as PC speaker too!

For the money I think this docking station represents excellent value for money. I know you can spend £100+ on Bose Ipod Docks but I don't understand how much better than these can be.

The remote control is easy to use and can be used to operate the built in radio, volume and the full Ipod menu, you may have to sit quite close to the docking station to see the Ipod screen which you are operating but the remote control function is great and you don't need to remove the Ipod from the docking station to navigate it.

The Gear4 Houseparty 3 has Great Sound, Remote Control, Charges the Ipod, USB Connector, can use as PC speakers and FM radio. We don't need a hi-fi in our house with this great bit of kit.
