I am a massive music fan and after many years of listening to tinny, low volume tunes from my computer monitor (following the terrible demise of my hi-fi) I decided to invest in a decent set of speakers. I trawled through Amazon looking at both hi-fis and speakers and ultimately decided upon these speakers. They are marketed as pc speakers but there size and exceptional sound quality makes them so much more.
The speakers are 3 way with 50 watts of output. The product description states that they use hi-fi crossover technology that makes each speaker unit respond to high, middle and low frequency. I am not expert on such matters but if you play Supersonic by Oasis really, really loud it sounds great. If you are really into sound engineering or tweaking one of the millions of settings on your hi-hi or speakers then you will be greatly disappointed. The only two adjustable controls on these are Bass and Treble. If on the other hand, you just want to play exceptional music from your iPod/TV/ stereo or whatever then these speakers will more than meet your needs.
I have also just bought a new TV and the sound does not seem as good as my previous one. I therefore connected the speakers and watched Independence Day at a volume that would have had my neighbours banging down the doors if they weren't all at work. I am therefore very tempted to purchase a second set.
Installation was very straight forward. Unwrap, plug in and switch on. You really can't ask for a simpler setup than that. There are two audio inputs with 2RCA and 3.5mm sockets on the back and on the front there is an extra line in jack for connecting another device without disconnecting from the pc. It also has a headphone jack which is very handy when the girlfriend does not appreciate you playing the new Kasabian album for the 3rd time in as many hours
