I have been having a cheap set of speakers for my computer. Although it still serves well it does not provides the best sound possible.. Since I am often in different places, an extra (and hopefully better) speaker would not hurt, also I had a gift certificate and thought it was a good idea to pay these speakers with that.
The speakers are very easy to use. It is clearly stated where you need to use which cable. Once all the cables were in place I could play music directly from my laptop. The cables are all long enough for me. The turning knobs are located on the front of the right speaker. For the speaker to turn on you just turn the volume knob. You hear a click when the speakers are put on or off and there is also a light burning.
The speakers are also solid. They look very strong and have a metal grille. Both speakers also have four small bottom thinly slices on the bottem, I think it is not rubber because I can move my speakers a bit. The right speaker has a separate entrance on the side where you can plug in your headphones.
There is negative about the speakers. You can't adjust the bass on the speaker itself and only on the computer and I don't think this is very practical.
You buy speakers for the sound but appearance is also important. The speakers have a nice black color. The only drawback to black is that you soon see dust. The speakers are pretty basic. The right speaker has two knobs which are symmetrically placed. On the right side there are two small entrances. One for a headphone and one as an extra input. When the speakers are turned on you can see a bright blue lightlight. Both speakers have the trademark "Hercules" written.
The most important part is of course the sound quality. The speakers despite their relatively small size have a good sound. Moreovereven at such high volumes it produces a very bright sound. A huge improvement in this area compared to my other cheap speakers. The volume is definitely a plus and more than enough for home use.
There is one major drawback to the speakers. They have no option to adjust the bass. I think this really is a shortcoming, I would have preferred a knob having a bass tone control knob. Ultimately this is no problem for me because I can arrange it on my computer, but it is less practical.
My first impression of the speakers was that they sounded very clean, very bright. This ensures that lighter songs, like pop music or acoustic music sound really good. The speakers are also very suitable for a solid beat along the songs. That beat sounds really full and pleasant. And if you like listining to metal the low bass drums are very good! Rock and metal have a nice full sound, though you will probably have to adjust the bass on your computer.
All in all I am satisfied by the speaker. I think 50 pounds is rather expensive but I recommend them definitely. The speakers sound very clear and full. The speakers are solid and steady. They are very user friendly and have two years warranty. Biggest downside is the lack of a bass control.
