Before i talk in more detail about the product I want to talk money, Consider this when reading. The RRP for the Intempo Digital IDS-01 is £35.00 but can be brought for £20.00. I brought this speaker 2 years ago, my first real set of speakers.
FYI - I didn't buy pink, I brought black.
The Intempo Digital speaker/dock system is a 6 watt neodymium speaker, coming from two small towers. The syncing dock system will play from and charge and iOS/Apple device, manufacture claims it charges any 1st, 2nd, 3rd generation device though this has charged and played 4th and 5th generation devices in my possession. The speakers and powered by AC to mains socket. Alternatively there is a space in the rear for 3 AA batteries allowing this to not be plugged in. This is a great extra as it means it can be moved easily, this has been great for parties in outside.
The back has a simple click switch on the back for powering on and off if you cant get to the wall socket, nifty. On the front, to the left of the Intempo logo there is a small red LED that is on when power is being supplied to the device which has remained helpful for me! The speakers are not big, around 10cm tall, 25cm long and 8cm deep approximately meaning they can sit nicely on a bed side table or desk.
So sound, that what we are after here. The speakers have a great balance of bass and more melodic riffs. The sound is very difficult to fault. The volume control switch becomes physical, either side of the docking port is two more easy click buttons for + and -. If you like bass, dub step, rap style music and are looking for a cheap, but loud and proud system this is awesome! you will never have expected such good quality from such small and cheap speakers. If you are in it for day to day pop, punk, jazz etc then this is just the treat. its for anyone.
I am buying a new set of speakers soon, to replace these. The only reason is really i would prefer bluetooth/airplay capabilities. This is likely to be the step up you may take if you buy these, i would say don't cut out the middle man, as these speakers do so much good!
To conclude, too cheap to not buy, very worth the purchase - great sound, ability, looks, size for the money!
I was bought these ipod speakers around 5 years ago as a gift. I had owned my ipod for a year or so before getting the speakers, so was just used to listening to music through my earphones.
On opening the gift, I remember thinking 'Wow, it's pink! It will match my ipod perfectly' ... and it did. It is a bright and vibrant pink, which perfectly complimented the pink ipod nano which I owned at the time. I had never heard of the 'Intempo' brand before, and therefore assumed that the sound quality wouldn't be that great. I was well and truly proved wrong from the moment I plugged the speakers in. Upon reading up about the product, it descibes the speakers as 'Powerful 2x6 watt RMS with neodymium speakers & 3D super bass design.'
The whole thing is really simple to use. The docking station itself consists of one unit with space for an ipod in the centre and two decent sized speakers either side. There are small, touch sensitive volume buttons on the base of the dock, which are very effective. The volume can be turned up to a pretty decent level, which I love!
The back of the docking station has a a socket for the cable to the mains to be plugged into, and a power button. There are no options to use batteries with this product, it must be plugged into the mains at all times. There are also sockets marked 'USB' and 'Aux', I have never used either of these and can't really understand why you would use headphones through the dock rather than just through the ipod itself! The USB socket may be useful for plugging into a computer. I also really love the fact that this will charge your ipod whilst you are using it, which is really handy.
The system also comes with a really cute, pink remote control. This enables you to skip forwards or backwards a track, turn the volume up or down and turn the dock on or off. It's not something I really thought it needed, but I love using it!!!
I don't know enough to comment on anything especially technical, but I listen to all genres of music, from metal to reggae and pop to rock. I find that all of my music sounds really great through these speakers and I now listen to my ipod a lot more than I ever had before. It has lasted incredbly well - sticking with me through 5 house moves and even joining me on a couple of holidays! 5 years on, the speakers are as good as they were on the day that I got them.
I would recommend this product to anyone who loves music and wants to make their ipod accessible in their home. I have had a look online and it seems to retail for around £29.99, although there is currently a boxed product on Ebay for £14.99. This is incredibly good value for money and I would say that it's well worth every penny.
Intempo is not necessarily a brand that comes to anyone's mind when they thing of electronics and audio devices, however intempo have created a top quality iPod dock that i think if given the publicity that it deserves could rival other bigger brand names such as Gear4 and Phillips. It has a sleep and slender design, almost a beautiful look to it, the sound quality is loud yet crisp blending bass with the rest without losing quality. I believe this to be one of the better iPod docks that is available out there and for the money it costs in comparison to some of the others i think that this is a smart choice, however some may prefer the traditional iPod docks because of their "designer" statements and thinking they're the best just because they're from bigger companies with good marketing teams, when in fact they could have this which would do the same job to an equal standard if not better. Another useful feature of this is that it comes with an audio jack plug so although it is specifically designed for the iPod you could plug any audio device with an matching audio jack into it.
I recieved this docking station with my ipod as a gift for christmas the year before last and i love it! You can get this docking station in black, white or pink but i recieved one in a nice bright pink colour! It looks really modern and trendy and up to date. My docking station was purchase at £24.99 but im sure you can probably get it cheaper now.
It can be used with any ipods and any other normal mp3 players. It can be used anywhere there is a socket, even in the car as the docking station comes with a free car lead socket so you can play it in your car.
The docking station is 12 watts and it can play your music extremely loudly without sounding fuzzy and un-clear. Great to blast on when your having a party at home or have as some quiet backing music while relaxing.
To work the docking station, you have to use a small remote that the docking station comes with. The remote features volume buttons, menu button, mute button, docking station light button, up and down selection arrow button (to select the song you want on from your ipod menu), power button, skip button and a stop and play button. The remote takes a small coin like battery that will last for a very long time.
Overall, this docking station is great value for money and plays your music to a very high quality.
