I bought this product after discovering the speakers on my laptop were, almost none existant (bought speakers from John Lewis, excellent service). After hearing positive reviews from my friends and sampling the competators at a Currys Outlet, I decided to buy these. When this arrived my first impressions were that the speakers were small and the sub-woofer was overly large in comparison. After plugging them in however the term 'big things come in small packages' became apparant. I bought this system on a budget, at the time it cost be about £70 and I would say it is well worth the money. I was looking for a simple, easy to configure PC sound system that would play music and DVD movies with a high quality output, the JBL Creature fufills these needs! The simple yet effective Bass and Treble controls are turn knobs which easily turned to change the sounds and effects of the music your listening to. The volume buttons are "capacitance touch" so they respond to the light touch of a finger, much like the old Ipod buttons! ===What Is It?=== The JBL mulitmedia speaker system "woofers" are a speaker set. It comes with the big sub-woofer and 2 smaller satelite speakers. These are designed for the best quality music able for computers. ===What is It Compatible With?=== It says in the title PC multimedia, but i just plugged it onto my Mac G5 and it worked fantastically! That is a bit misleading as it can work with basically any mulitimedia appliance. I've been using these speakers for about 6 months now, having paid around £50 for them from Cancom. The first thing that appealed to me was the small desktop speakers, and the strange shape of them. It's gotta be said that they look pretty cool. I like the touch sensitive volume button, and the fact that the connectors are all different shapes, meaning you can't plug the wrong speaker into the wrong socket by mistake. The bass and treble controls are located on the subwoofer, and they provide a wide range of level adjustment. It may look as if the aliens have landed, but these are infact speakers. They can be used for PC, TV, games console etc. The Good: Firstly these speakers pack a punch. The sound is rich and powerful and they will fill a medium sized room no problem. The whole system takes up very little space. The satellite speakers are tiny and the subwoofer is very compact also. They represent good value for money and can be had for around £45-50.
