Great speakers (JBL Radial)

Advantages: Great sound quality, fills the room, good bass, charges iPod, great design

Disadvantages: Maybe a tad pricey

I have only spotted these for £200 (although apparently John Lewis are doing them for £150), but I managed to get mine ex-display at Currys for a cool £80 (no remote or adaptor but can't complain). For a small iPod dock, these are astonishing! The sound quality is crisp and powerful, and it really fills the room. I was concerned that maybe small speakers would only work in a small room, but the sound quality from these are brilliant so no concerns there at all.

There aren't many extra features on it, it is simply an iPod dock. A similar JBL version (the JBL On Time) has a similar look with an alarm clock and radio, but it sacrificed a little sound quality. But if you have an iPod and some speakers, these do the job. It will charge all the latest generations of iPod (5th classic, 4th nano and 2nd touch at time of writing), and the remote control allows you to change track from across the room.

The other thing to comment on is design, which is of course unique, and might I say they look even better in the flesh! I preferred the black, but wasn't going to pay and extra £100 for that!

In terms of competitors, the main ones out there are the Klipsch, and the Bose Sounddock. I haven't heard the Klipsch but a friend of mine swears by them and they are under £100. Meanwhile, the Bose Sounddock is better than the JBL Radial, so if you are going to spend £200 maybe Bose is the way to go.

Still, these are great speakers.
