Advantages: slimline shape, position anywhere

Disadvantages: wires hanging around and tangling

I bought this speaker system because I liked the style of it and because I wanted a system that was reasonable quality at low cost. The technical specifications don't mean much to me to be honest so they didn't have much bearing on the purchase.

Frequency response: 35hz to 20Kh, 5.5 watts RMS each side.
19 watts RMS subwoofer at 10% distortion. (That means you get almost pure sound but the original frequency is altered by up to 10%)

These specifications mean that these are fairly sensitive and about mid range as computer speakers go, (taking into account quality and price.)

This system is particularly good looking. The two speakers are tall, about as thin as a sheet of heavy cardboard and about eleven inches high.

There's a seperate black wooden case housing the subwoofer which is square in shape and just a little shorter than the speakers. The system gives a clear, rich sound and I was very impressed with its performance when listening to CD's, mp3's anf DVD.

You can mount the speakers on a wall if you want to as the appropriate brackets are provided.

The main advantage of these flat panel speakers is that you can get excellent stereo sound from them without having to move them around to the optimum position. In other words where ever you sit you can still hear stereo sound.

The main drawback is that although the speakers are very slim and space saving you still have those trailing wires to deal with. I find that the wires still get tangled up behind my processor just like all the others in 'the snakes nest'!

Price wise, these are a good deal at £79.99. If you want more information on these or any other labtec systems they have a website:

www.labtec.com

I would strongly recommend these for style, sensitivity and value for money.

Great Jan, I've just one problem.... no computer at home yet. Still, if I buy the speakers perhaps some lovely passer by will get me the computer to go with it.
