Advantages: Great sound, Cheap
Disadvantages: None
I have a set of 1070 speakers that I bought about 2 weeks ago and basically they have brought the audio capability of my PC alive. Before that I had a little pair of un-amped speakers that broke up if you put too much power through them. Now I have my Labtec 10-70's, nothing can phase my PC! I have great audio booming out of these speakers at home so that I can listen to cd's while I work and excellent surround sound for when im playing my 3d games. They are about 12 inches tall with a rather unusual design. They have grey cloth fronts hiding away the tweeters and mid range while large ports in the middle let the bass pour out freely and unhindered. Controls on the speakers are quite good. You have a balance knob that allows the user to adjust the amount of bass and treble coming out. A volume knob makes up the other control while a push button in the middle allows the user to select 3d sound. Believe me it makes a lot of difference. You feel like you are there. They pump out 6 watts of music. Does not sound alot but it is crystal clear and more than loud enough for most applications. There are also plug holes for A microphone input and a Headphone socket so that the user does not have to fiddle around with the back of the PC when these are required. A cable tidy in one of the speakers means no loose wires hanging out. They run straight off the mains via an included adapter that is like any Hi Fi lead. frequency response is superb. It goes as low as 55Hz and up to 20kHz so even the most mean Drum and Bass MP3 can be handled. The best bit is the Price. £30 from PC world. Thats half the price of its nearest rival in my mind which is the Cambridge Soundworks separates. They take up too much room anyway as they have a separate sub woofer. You can do a lot worse that a set of these speakers.

- 29/05/01 I have a set of these speakers, bought from Dixons, and they're brilliant. £30 for these is a bargain. |
