I got these Logitech speakers to replace my in-built laptop ones. I bought them from Amazon and decided to choose them as they were only about £12 and the Logitech speakers I've used in the past have been excellent so I thought I'd try them out.
I quite like the appearance of these speakers - they are simple but quite stylish. The matte black is covered on the front by a black metal mesh. On the front of one of the speakers is a small orange light which lets you know whether they are on or off. On the right side of the same speaker is a simple dial which can be used to turn the speakers on and adjust the volume. The lack of features means they are very easy to use and set-up (I've never had to use the instruction booklet). The speakers are small and compact - smaller than they look in the images - and fit really nicely on my desk, leaving plenty of room for other things. Both of the speakers are attached by a 1.2m cable allowing them to be positioned quite far apart if needed as well as 1.5m power cable. My desk is directly next to the socket so this isn't an issue for me but the shortness of the cable could be annoying if you don't have a plug socket nearby. Aside from the 2 speakers there is also 3-year warranty supplied.
According to Logitech these speakers are supposed to provide a "rich, full sound". I think this is quite an accurate description as the sound is clear and good quality for the price and size of these speakers. I use mine mostly for listening to music on iTunes or the radio but sometimes I'll also use them to watch a movie or play a video game as well and found they are great for this. They don't reach a particularly loud volume or have very good bass but I wasn't expecting this. If you need speakers that will give a vast improvement over tinny laptop ones but aren't that concerned about the power or volume then I would recommend these.
Unfortunately, my laptop speakers have never been very good so I decided after a while of struggling to listen to music and my programmes to buy some speakers. I was a student at the time so had very little money so very little choice in which ones to buy. In fact, these were my only choice from my local shop.
They seemed good enough at the time. Even if I had the money, I don't think I would have ended up getting much better ones anyway and seeing as all I wanted to do was listen to music in my room and watch TV these seemed suitable enough for me.
It wasn't until I got home and plugged them in that I realised I probably should have gone for ones with a bit more quality. I should have just waited for my next pay day and splurged on ones with a better brand.
The sound can be good quality but only when the volume is very low. Seeing as I was buying speakers so that I could get some higher volume, this was a huge indicator that I had made a mistake. When the volume went up, the sound would crackle. Not the occasional crackle but constant, irritating 'WHY DID YOU BUY ME' crackles. I didn't buy them second hand so seriously doubt it had anything to do with damage. This is purely a badly made product.
I bought these speakers very recently, as my extremely old ones stopped working properly and I dedcided I need to hear my music properly.
I use them only for my desktop PC computer - so I got to test them on a variety of sounds, from music to films and video games. The sound comes out crisp and clear and it's clearly an improvement for me, the music sounds fantastic and so do the films. I was a bit scared when I noticed they're so small, but the sound is really not a problem.
Well, there might be one thing - I don't think they can go very loud, as my old speakers could go a lot louder than these ones but with a lot of 'noise' too. However, unless you want to throw a party and only have these small speakers for the music, you won't notice it. I think the volume is great for every-day listening.
I also like their simple design, and being so small they take very little space on my desk and for some reason, I find them really cute. I got them in a great bargain at £4 (£8 with the delivery) so I'm extremely pleased with them. I just hope they'll last!
There are 2 sets of these in my house, neither of which are being used as computer speakers. Both are currently plugged into TV sets that have tinny audio from their built in speakers. This means that they have been tested with a wide variety of sounds. Plugging these into the 2 newest TV sets has made all the difference as the audio from these is clean and natural sounding. They aren't the most powerful sounding speakers but the chances are they are an improvement over anything you can have built in. The active circuitry also means you get more power for your budget than you would from a pair that don't need a power supply. They are small and easy to move around and appropriately place and they are also relatively light. The orange LED that tells you whether the speakers are on or not is very clear and easy to see and the volume knob is easy to reach and use. For around £10 you can't really go wrong with these as although the sound quality isn't exactly cinema it will definately make your TV or computer sound better!
