I bought this docking station around a year ago and I am still very pleased with the unit. It has a nice style with the gloss black finish and any amount of ipods from a small nano to a big classic shape ipod will fit into the doc thanks to its many different clip-in cradles it comes supplied with.
Most importantly though is the sound quality and I must say for such a small unit it has impressive sound with clear music from such small speakers. But.... you do loose quality at almost full volume which is very loud and unpleasant. The purpose of this ipod dock is really for travelling, holidays, music in the garden and portability which it succeeds all of these.
The battery life is also excellent and lasts for hours on end. If you plug the Speakers into the mains your ipod is also charged up the same time - another great feature. The speakers also come with a small remote control which is well designed and easy to use.
The doc comes with a travel case which easily fits the mains adapter, cable, remote and speakers in nicely. Although the case could do with a little more sturdy protection as you are probably going to pack this in your case for your holiday.
The only problem I have found with my speaker ipod station is that when I plug in my ipod the volume quickly hurtles to full volume and you have to manually turn it down. It does sometimes creep up again too once turned down. A very irritating fault that might just be due to age of the speakers.
For ages we didn't have any docking system for our ipod. Our stereo was an oldie, made before the brave new world of MP3, so while it would happily play CD's (and cassette tapes!!) we had no speakers for the ipod. I didnt' really think about it too much - after all I don't have my own MP3 player and my husband's is almost permanently glued to him so a docking system for everyday use seemed fairly redundant. However, when we moved to a flat where dining was in the kitchen rather than the living room, and hubbie began to complain he couldn't listen to all his favourite tunes in the bath, it got me thinking...
I wanted a docking system that would have a decent enough sound but also be really portable, so it could be used in the living room, and easily moved into the kitchen or even bathroom as needed - and all at a reasonable budged. The Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere certainly fits the bill.
Price-wise, the system can be found online for under £80 (I got a shock when I just googled and saw one under £60 but that was refurbished!)
It's a lovely compact little system measuring just 34cm(W) x 9.5(H) x 4.5(D) and light as a feather to move around. It plugs in at the mains, but has a 10 hour rechargeable battery too. To be honest, I don't think we've tested the battery anywhere near it's limit, so can't say how accurate that 10-hour life is. The Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere also looks good, with a stylish minimal design in black.
I would prefer it if there were some basic controls on the box itself. Instead, everything is controlled by remote, which is pretty simple and intuitive. And I guess there's not much space on the dock itself. On the slightly more technical side (not my strong point) it is compatible with iphone and all ipod models, which is nice.
And finally and most importantly, the sound. This is where the Logitech really impressed me - it has a much bigger, meatier sound than I expected. It doesn't feel tinny and easily fills a decent sized room with good clarity. I should add the caveat here that I'm no hifi expert or sound geek (which I'm sure you could already tell) who might not be satisfied with the sound, but then they can go and buy themselves some high end separates system with uber-speakers - and leave me with this natty compact portable docking system that punches well above its weight!
I bought this ipod dock just over a year ago and it has been well used. Its a well presented unit which has a high quality black gloss finish, which is pretty common for most electrical entertainment appliances and fits in well in my living room with my other stuff. Its small enough to put pretty much anywhere. It doesnt need a table or top to itself and lives in amongst ornaments or decoration in your room. The controls are simple and it comes with a variety of docking adaptors to suit different appliances. Your ipod/player will charge while docked so it saves the hassle of breaking out the adaptor.
My ipod fits snug but it doesnt "click" into place which initially led me to push on it a lot. You dont need to.
The sound quality is suprisingly good for the size of the unit but it isnt the quality a good hifi system would put out. If you dont want something sizable cluttering up your room then this is the product to get. Convenient and small. It isnt very good at standing up though! It tends to lean backwards and can fall over unless propped or carefully balanced.
Comes with carry case and it totally portable for holidays etc.
You can experience sound quality that is rich enough to satisfy your in-home tastes - in a form factor compact enough to take with you. Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 combines 5.1 cm active and 7.6 cm pressure drivers for crystal-clear sound and surprisingly deep bass. Take it to school, work or the park with you. The speakers include a built-in, rechargeable battery - with a battery-life indicator - that lasts for long time on a single charge. You can take it anywhere in the world.
