I'm not an audio expert and i definitely dont do it for a living, but these speakers really blew me away. They look fantastic and boy do they sound fantastic
The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was the midnight black colour, it really makes the speakers look sexy and discreet. The curves of the speaker also help make it a very nice thing to look at, and when plugged in a blue LED lights up and this accents the black perfectly.
But enough about the looks, speakers are all about the sound quality and like I said at the beginning I am no expert on sound engineering, but the speakers really are fantastic, they have enough volume for anything that you could reasonably want in everyday life, they are supposedly 2.6 watts in total. The control for the volume is very easy and intuitive, a little knob on the side that you turn to make it louder or quieter.
They also have a very peculiar feature, a headphone socket, who would want to plug something into their speakers and then have it quietened down again for headphones. However you could use this to plug in more speakers to make your music even better.
The speakers are very lightweight and so very suitable for travel, the stands allow for easy set up, however they cannot be removed apart easily.
The price is also pretty good for an item of its quality, looking around on ebay you can get these speakers for around £10
I have only had one problem, and that is with the cable, after going on a plane flight in a suitcase I found that the connection to one of the speakers went a bit temperamental and I have had trouble with it ever since. However I don't think this would have occurred If I hadn't wrapped the cables so tightly and so I can't criticise it much
I would definitely recommend these speakers to anyone as they are a cheap compact and good audio arrangement
As a massive fan of Music I like to listen to something from the vast collection of music I have on my computer's hard drive whilst I surf around online or with anything else I am doing on my computer. I did not want to spend too much on a pair of computer speakers as I am saving up for a DAB Stereo system for my Bedroom which also houses my computer. I plan to connect my computer to my new stereo when I buy it. My prayers were answered when I was given a pair of these Logitech speakers from my housemate who was given them free by someone he knew. When he got back home he offered them to me as I was the one with the computer.
Once I received them I plugged the right speaker's plug in at the mains and connected the wire to the audio in the back of the computer and then sat back and played some music to check them out. I really was not happy with the sound quality of the previous speakers I was using which were the speaker equivalent of freebie cable. From the look of them I knew the S-100's were different. Once turned on the right speaker will show a blue LED light which adds a nice touch. Below are the details of this speaker set.
Logitech S-100 main features include:
Product Type: PC Multimedia Speakers
Speaker Type: Active
Audio Amplifier: Integrated
Internal Power Supply in Right Channel Speaker
Power & Volume Buttons
2.6 watts rich full sound
Unique form factor for PC integration
Frequency response: 50HZ - 20kHZ
Whilst these are more commonly used as Computer speakers you can of course also use them as portable speakers for an MP3 Player and they will work as well as they do with MP3 players as they do with computers so you could certainly take these on holiday with you due to their small size and their versatility. All you need to do is to just use the headphone socket on the speakers and the MP3 player. I have used these with my Acer MP330 and they worked pretty well and the wire was lengthy enough to give you the best position for you speakers to be placed in.
Despite their diminutive size these speakers create a decent amount of scale and although they don't produce great levels of bass what they do produce is decent enough for casual listening whilst checking emails or whatever you are doing. I am listening to them right now as I write this review. They also produce more than acceptable levels of detail which means they are suited more mellow music but if you must listen to more uptempo music then don't push the volume up to high otherwise you will start to hear a massive distortion in the quality of sound produced. This is one of the speakers biggest weaknesses but you would expect them to have this problem as they are a lot cheaper than the better speakers as you would expect really.
I was lucky enough to have received these free but I have seen pairs of Logitech S-100 for just £6.99 which is amazing. They are available for as much as £21.99 new so shop around to get the best deal for you. Summing up these speakers are one of the best you can get for around the £20 price point and will suit many people who just want to listen to the music on their computer if their hi-fi is in a different room. Although I like these ones I will start to use my new stereo when I have saved enough to buy it.
Designed to look as good as they sound, the Logitech S100 stereo speakers deliver great sound and great value in a package optimized for PC integration. The speakers are easily controlled with a convenient volume knob to the right side of the right speaker. The audio headset jack can be found just below the volume knob when private listening is desired.
