Advantages: Great sound, reasonable price.
Disadvantages: Nothing
Recently my CD player died and after looking for a new one for some time I suddenly had a thought of why am I bothering?! I very rarely used it anyway thesedays, instead whenever I listened to music it would be on my laptop. However, my built in laptop speaker has an awful 'tinny' sound so I would always use headphones but this was a pain when I was moving around and not sitting by my laptop. So instead of paying out for a new CD player I decided to invest in some new speakers that I could plug in to my laptop.
Popping in to tesco to do my food shopping, I decided to have a look in the aisle with all the technical stuff to see if they had any speakers on offer. I was pleased to find that they had about five to choose from. Only two of these were USB powered which I specifically wanted because it is just slightly tidier and more convenient to have a cable coming out of the side of my laptop rather than the front where it gets in the way of typing. These Logitech S-150 USB Digital Speaker were the most appealing to me. I purchased them and couldn't wait to try them out when I got home.
*Appearance*
In my opinion, these speakers don't have the fanciest packaging but they are certainly not to be over looked. The speakers themselves are a sleek design, mainly shiny black in colour with silver controls and the Logitech logo. They are approx 15.5cm in height, 7cm wide and 5.5cm in depth so overall they are pretty small. The three small silver controls on the right speaker are: left - volume down, middle - mute and right - volume up. There is also a small orange light which says 'digital' that comes on when the speakers are in use.
*About the Speakers*
As mentioned above they are USB powered which makes them super easy to install. All I had to do was plug the cable in to my USB socket and they were ready to use, no software or lengthy installation. They are suitable for use with Windows or Mac OS, working with Windows Vista. Logitech say they present a pure digital stereo sound, great for your music, movies or video calls. I more than pleased with the sound they produce, I didn't expect them to deliver such a pure sound even though they claimed it. They sound just as good as my old stereo player which cost me around five times the price. When you buy these speakers they come with a two year manufacturer's guarantee and full product support.
*What's in the box?*
You get two speakers (left and right), your user documentation, guarantee and a protective travel case for your speakers which would come in very handy of you need them on the move.
*Price*
As I said, I purchased mine from Tesco for £13.97 which I think is a great price for speakers of such a high standard. However, you may be able to find them for less if you shop around at places such as Amazon.
Overall, I would recommend these speakers to anyone looking for high quality sound at a reasonable price. They are great for PC's or Laptops and are a great way of turning your PC/Laptop in to a personal stereo too.
