      ------------------------------------------------------------
      Introduction
      ------------------------------------------------------------

Well like you might know, the speakers of a notebook are normally not that good and that's the case with mine. Don't really want to say they are bad, but I like to watch movies and listen to music, so I just need something better. So that's why I got myself some speakers!

      ------------------------------------------------------------
What do you get with the speakers?
      ------------------------------------------------------------

If you buy these speakers, you get a few things with:

      - The Logitech V20 Notebook Speakers
      - Quick Start Guide
      - Integrated USB cable
      - Protective carrying case
      - 2 years warranty
      - Full product support

      ------------------------------------------------------------
      The Quick Start Guide
      ------------------------------------------------------------

The quick start guide is written in over 15 languages including English. This guide is very clear and guides you through with pictures that show exactly how the speakers work and how to connect them with the laptop / computer. You can also read some information about the speakers, including about the buttons at the top of the speakers, where exactly which button is for. I find it a helpful manual.

      ------------------------------------------------------------
      Appearance
      ------------------------------------------------------------

The speakers look good but in my opinion. The colors of the speakers are black, gray and white. At the top are a number of buttons. On the back of the speakers is a standard where the cord comes from. The speakers are about 15cm high and about 7.5 cm wide. So they are fairly small, so they take up little space.

      ------------------------------------------------------------
How to connect the speakers into the laptop
      ------------------------------------------------------------

Connecting the speakers into the laptop are really easy. You first need to connect the second speaker with the first speaker with a wire, which is dead easy. Then you connect the first speaker with the laptop with the USB cable. And that's all really.

      ------------------------------------------------------------
      Buttons
      ------------------------------------------------------------

As I said, you can find a number of buttons on the top of the speakers. The first button is for playing and pausing a song. The second button you can stop the song. With the third button lets you play previous track, with the fourth button, the next track, with the fifth button you can mute the music and the sixth and two buttons let you adjust the volume. It's very easy to adjust this speaker.

      ------------------------------------------------------------
      Quality of Speakers
      ------------------------------------------------------------

I like the quality of the sound. The reason that I've connected speakers to my laptop is mainly because of the bass. Because trough the speakers of a laptop you can't hear or feel the bass. I think that the speaker sounds really good. You can not adjust the bass, as there is no sub. A shame really especially when you think the bass is to loud. For myself it's not really a problem.

      ------------------------------------------------------------
      Opinion
      ------------------------------------------------------------

Overall I am satisfied with these speakers. The quality of the sound is so much better then when you play the sounds trough the speakers of the laptop. It sounds very full and the bass is strong. Also I like the look of the speakers. The speakers may seem a bit simple, but because they are so small and have a beautiful color, I really like them The buttons at the top of the speakers I think are useful and allows you to stop the music very easily. When you have to connect the speakers to the laptop, there's nothing complicated about it which I prefer. No hassle and you can quickly listening to your music. All in all very good speakers.

people keep trying to steal mine, but i'm not letting them go

Bought these to use on the work laptop and now I've changed jobs I've gone for the same model for my home laptop. I like them that much.

I worked in a large hall and I used to use these to provide music for the whole hall to hear! Kids running about and all. They topped any projector speaker or internal laptop speaker, i had access to, and were clearer than hooking up to the halls old sound system. I've used them in drafty churches too, and been asked to turn them down! They really do have a powerful punch of sound.

They are old enough to get a few places selling reconditioned ones, my second pair are reconditioned and you don't notice the difference until you put them onto earsplitting top volume, and then they buzz just a touch more than the new pair did.

The sound quality is amazing considering their size and the fact that they have nothing but a USB powering them. The speakers do move when at high volume, walking slowly across the table. They have small control buttons on top. I use the sound up and down often, and the mute. The tracking buttons do work, but sometimes they don't recognise which program they are linked to. I've never found a computer they haven't worked instantly on, though i've occasionally had to tell the sound settings to use them.

The travel case is great, slick black and fabric, but with a sturdy interior so there is no bending. As well as fitting the speakers perfectly it's not so cramped you can't put an exta wire and odd USB in with them. They have traveled a lot with me.

If for some reason i lost these i'd probably source yet another set!

A great solution to laptop speakers

I bought these speakers for university as I needed portable sound that didn't take up a plug socket. These speakers fit the bill perfectly, whilst packing a surprising sound punch.

I noticed the difference in sound quality immediately. The V20 speakers offer much more bass and dynamic range than my laptop speakers. In my experience external speakers beat built-in laptop ones every time, so if you enjoy your music or playing games, I definitely recommend these speakers. I was very impressed by how powerful these speakers are, they can go louder than most conventional desktop speakers.

In my opinion, the best feature of these speakers is that they are powered by USB. In my university halls I couldn't afford to use up another plug socket, plus it means the unit is a lot more portable. The speakers come with a handy travel case which protects them from damage and makes them easier to carry around.

The only downside to these speakers is that the button controls on the top are a bit stiff. I found it much easier to use the hot keys on my laptop to control volume and to skip tracks.

Overall, these speakers are great for those who need power and portability.

        Disadvantages

Might even be the only speakers you'll ever need...

I bought these Logitech V20 notebook speakers to use with my MacBook Pro laptop computer: for me, a pair of good-quality external speakers has turned out to be an essential rather than a nicety.

Firstly, the (otherwise excellent) 15" MacBook has suprisingly poor sound, because its little built-in speaker housings also have to accommodate a microphone, the power on/off button and two light sensors! Secondly, my training work takes me to all sorts of strange venues and relying on other people's audio connections and speakers has proved to be a courageous thing to do. I need speakers that are truly plug-and-play.

        Set-up? Simple.
Given the relatively modest price (let's forget all the £9.99 speakers that are no better than listening on an earpiece), I was pleasantly surprised that the v20s came in a neat and tough-looking fabric case. Unzip, and there are your two speakers: lift them out, and you're immediately struck by how solid and Germanic the build quality feels. I've had neither the courage nor misfortune to do the "drop-test", but they feel as though they'd survive it.

One speaker has a USB A plug and goes straight into the USB socket on your computer. The other speaker has a mono sub-miniature (2.5mm diameter) audio plug, which you push into the only socket on the first speaker. That's all there is to it! They're powered entirely from the computer's USB port, so there's no separate power adapter, batteries or other things to lose, connect up, run down or go wrong.

Actually, PC users MIGHT now have to go to some "control panel" on their laptop and choose the external speakers, or perhaps restart the computer so that the operating system can "see" your new speakers, though in theory this isn't necessary with USB devices. Smug-as-you-like Apple Mac users will unfailingly find that the speakers just work as soon as you plug them in, and that the built-in ones have switched themselves off automatically...

Sound quality? Like something much bigger.
The transformation from connecting the V20s was just astounding: a crisp top-end, warm and rich mid-range and remarkably full bass. The bass performance is particularly memorable given that the speakers are only 150mmH x 75mmW x 35mmD: shut your eyes and you can easily imagine that the sound is coming from a much larger pair of cabinets. The sound volume available might make you think that too.

I recently delivered a training course for a client who had promised a "skilled technician to help me set everything up". On the day, and with minutes to go, the technician was notable by their absence and I had been put in a lecture theatre with no obvious loudspeakers or any kind of audio plug (that I could see) for connecting my laptop. In desperation, I sprinted back to my car, grabbed the case with the V20s, ran back and plugged them in. The resulting sound filled the lecture theatre!

A couple of neat features on these speakers are a mute button on the top of the right-hand speaker (with a red light next to it, so you can find it easily in a dimly-lit venue) and up/down volume control buttons. Sure, if you turn them up really loud they'll distort a bit - but isn't that ultimately true of any loudspeaker?

If you're looking for affordable, highly portable speakers with simple set-up, really strong audio performance and mega-reliability, then look no further.
