I picked up this system from Currys for £22.50 (£25 but with a 10% discount code).

This is a small unit with compact speakers, but don't let that fool you into thinking it produces a small sound. The stylish design fits in easily with any decor and is easily manouverable.

It gives a clear, clean sound, coupled with a trembling bass which can be controlled easily on the subwoofer. The general volume control is on one of the speakers.
The length of wire between the speakers and subwoofer is quite generous which is ideal for seprating the speakers and giving a surround sound effect.

A great thing about this system is the versatility of use. So far I have used it on my TV, my laptop, my CD player and my ps3. Every situation requires a different level of volume and bass, which this system can provide with ease. For example, i can turn up the bass for my CD player, but when plugged into the TV, i don't really want to hear Noel Edmonds' voice booming out at me, 10x deeper than usual. So it is easy to adjust to different types of requirements.

However, there is a lack of control options which are found on other higher priced, more advanced systems. But for the price and brand reliability, this system cannot be beaten.
