Advantages: reasonably priced, good quality and excellent audio

Disadvantages: nylon meshing can gather dust

The Logitech X 530 are very decent 5.1 speakers for the price. They boast 6 units in all comprising of a right and left speaker, a right and left rear speaker, a centre speaker and a larger subwoofer which is supposed to be placed on the floor anyway for better quality bass sound output.
Connecting the right wires is a snap as they all fit into colour coded slots that are pushed into the back of the sub woofer.Connecting the cables directly to the pc is slightly more tricky as the colours from the back of your soundcard are not easily recognizable. (pink looks like orange to me). Talking of soundcards, to get the most from these speakers your soundcard must support 5.1 sound or above otherwise you will not get full functionality from all the speakers.
Volume adjustment and headphone jack are sited on the front right speaker, as is the "on/off" button.
The sound quality from the speakers is certainly powerful enough for any home pc with hardly any distortion noticed even at its highest volume setting. There is also a volume control at the back of the sub woofer but it is advisable not to turn this up too much as then the bass can sound severely distorted so keep it to a minimum and you will have no problems.
Some people complain of the rear speakers not sounding as loud as the front set of speakers. I do not think that they realise that they are not supposed to sound as loud, because they are rear speakers and are intended to pick up certain background noises only, leaving the front speakers to receive most of the sound and volume. That is the whole idea of 5.1 surround sound. If the front and rear picked up exactly the same level of sound and noise then it wouldn't be 5.1 sound would it!You might just as well get 2 pairs of normal speakers and wire them up into the four corners of your room!!!! It would hardly be surround sound in the truest sense of the meaning now would it.
The speakers themselves are housed in what seems a good quality, semi glossy plastic finish with a nylon mesh covering the front of the speakers. The only trouble with this is that they collect a lot of dust!
Apart from that I would say that these were pretty faultless in every other respect.

Summary: A decent 5.1 surround sound for your pc
