Advantages: Very cheap, good build & sound quality.
Disadvantages: Cables for rear speakers are a bit short.
These are budget speakers with plenty of decibels for your money, there aren't any fancy things like multiple inputs, or a remote, but intended for use as surround sound for your computer these are features' not really necessary.
I have always been a fan of Logitech for PC components, as I am yet to purchase one of their products that doesn't feel like it is built to last. These speaker's are certainly no exception, having a good "weight" to them they feel like they cost significantly more.
For a 5.1 surround sound system setup is an easy (if messy) process, just a case of plugging all cables into the back of the subwoofer, and then the audio cable from the front-right speaker into the source device. This is another sign that it isn't intended for use on anything other than a computer, given that audio is routed through one of the "satellite" speakers, which ideally would not be placed very closely to the audio source. Another thing to note is that the cables for the rear speakers are not very long, approximately 2-3 metres, in order for me to get them where I wanted I had to purchase an extension cable, although this was only a few quid from eBay.
The part that matters most to me is sound quality, I'm certainly no audiophile, but I appreciate good quality audio. When plugged into any audio source the quality is crystal clear, you can hear even the smallest things, which low quality speakers often muffle out. Even at high volumes there is no distortion, which is a true sign of their quality in my opinion.
As I have mentioned these are primarily intended for use with a desktop computer, but supplied is an adaptor allowing for you to plug in virtually any device (with the red & white phono plugs) into them, and the speakers will allow for you to listen to this audio in stereo mode, with all speakers in use. This is a mode which I prefer as often unless applications are designed with surround sound in mind only the front 2 speakers are used, which I suppose technically is correct, although it is more desirable for all speakers to be used (even if it is just to get your moneys worth!).
I currently have these setup with a TV, it is when switching between built in speakers and these that you really notice a difference, the bass is much clearer (without being overpowering ... unless you turn it up), and the overall sound is much more pleasing to listen to.
I'd say these are worth a try to anyone who wants big sound on a budget, despite me usually using them in a non-surround mode, they also offer good sound with their intended 5.1 setting.
Summary: Excellent value surround sound for PC, and other purposes.
