Logitech X 530
Advantages: Great sound quality, wall mountable
Disadvantages: Too many wires
I am a very minimalistic person and I also love music. I absolutely hate having CD's, as I feel they take up far too much room, especially if I had every single album that I actually own. I got rid of all my CD's and my Hi-Fi a few years ago and decided to stick all my music on external storage drives instead, all my music on one little box. Laptop speakers arn't very loud so I needed something that was going to pack a healthy punch, something that would replace my old Hi-Fi. I looked around and these speakers seemed to fit the bill.
I purchased this set from amazon.co.uk two years ago for the princely sum of £69.99 and I haven't looked back since. Now they are down in price to £54.99, so you are getting a real bargain here. They arrived within a few days and they were well packaged.

1 Sub Woofer - 25 Watt
1 Centre Channel Speaker - 15.5 Watt
4 x Satellite Speakers - 7.4 Watt
Audio Cables(Colour Coded)
2 Year Limited Warranty
When they came, I proceeded to set them up, the user manual was pretty self explanatory and with the colour coded cables it made the job really easy. All the speakers are fed into colour coded slots at the back of the sub woofer; Front Centre Speaker - Red cable, Front Left Speaker - White Cable, Rear Left Speaker - Yellow Cable and Rear Right Speaker - Black cable. The Centre Channel Speakers cable screws into the back of the sub woofer. The speakers then link up to either an external sound card(I highly recommend Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1, you can also purchase this from amazon for £64.99 + £6.95 delivery), or you can link them directly to your laptop or computers internal sound card.
The Centre Channel Speaker has a volume control and also has a headphone port(handy for if you want to really immerse yourself in the music or whatever you are listening to). The sub woofer has a dial for regulating the amount of bass coming through it, sometimes you really don't need too much bass. All of the speakers apart from the sub woofer have nice adjustable plastic stands to enable wall mounting(personally I prefer to hide speakers out of the way, rather than have them on display for all to see).
The system uses a Frequency Directed Dual Driver in the 5 satellite speakers to ensure there are no hot spots or quiet spots in the sound field, producing a nice rich sound field making your listening experience much more pleasurable.
The speakers also come with an adapter to allow you to hook them up to a games console such as; XBox or PS2/PS3 immersing you into the game. I haven't linked mine to a console, but I have played games like COD on my PC with the speakers linked up and the quality is so good, it's like you are actually part of the game.
I really love this speaker system, my laptop replaces my old Hi-Fi system and by linking my laptop to my T.V I really have that 5.1 surround sound cinema experience, I can stream movies and have fantastic sound quality in my living room for a nice reasonable price. The only downside to this system is the amount of wires that come with it, and they are very difficult to conceal, hence the reason at the side of my couch I have a spaghetti junction full of wires. I have had this system for two years now and I haven't had a single problem with it and I would imagine it will last for at least another two years and believe me, it does get used every day, where else could you purchase something for £54.99 and have it last as long as these speakers have in my house?
Summary: Great speaker system to turn your PC/Laptop/Games Console into a muti-media entertainment centre
