A uniquely designed bluetooth speaker for all occassions.

The Sony Ericsson MBS-100 portable bluetooth speaker ball, impressed me on so many levels, it's hard to know where to start when writing a review about it, but here goes....

Design - It could never be said that Sony Ericsson aren't unique with their designs! At first glance, it may look a little like something the Green Goblin might fling at Spiderman, but when placed on a chest of drawers, or a patio table at a barbeque, it always stands out and never fails to grab attention for it's unusual but modern appearance. Measuring just 3.9inches x 3.9inches x 3.9inches and weighing in at 225g, the speaker is light and small enough to be carried around in ones bag, or pack away neatly in ones suitcase to take on holiday.

Price - Having been around for a few years now, and with it's big brother, the improved mbs-200 and 400 already on the market, it comes as no surprise that the mbs-100 has come down in price considerably over the last few years. What once was £39.99 at release (in my opinion, a still reasonable price considering the power of the speaker) has slowly reduced. I personally picked mine up brand new from my local Orange shop, for a mere £5! Now priced as such to clear stock I'm presuming, but a bargain I couldn't ignore!!

Technology - The speaker runs on A2DP bluetooth 2.0, so will work with all Sony Ericsson handsets of this bluetooth capacity and up to a 10meter distance. After trialling the speaker with various other mobile phone manufacturers, I found it to work with most, except for Blackberry, with which it will pair, but not transfer the music. However, it is worth noting that it does work best with a Sony Ericsson.
The speaker has a 3.5mm jack integrated enabling the speaker to be paired to laptops or other devices with the appropriate cables and lets you stream your music library at ease.
It is easy to pair up to the handset (with step by step instructions provided in box) and is rechargeable, running off the Sony Ericsson charger provided in box. From personal use, I found a full charge, which takes around 4-5hours, will give approx 5hours of continual music play back, and when music is not being played, I can leave it for over 2 days in standby without needing a recharge!!
The sound quality and volume on this speaker really does need to be experienced to appreciate. It's far louder then one would expect for it's size and the sound was crisp and clear.

All in all, a unique and clever piece of music technology!
