Advantages: They look the part ..

Disadvantages: Tinny sound, and so quiet you can barely hear it!

The Sony SRS P7 are a portable pair of speakers which are very easy to transport around and take anywhere.

Looks
The Sony SRS speakers are quite good looking speakers, the front of the speakers come with a shiny silver finish which is really slick as it has small sparkly points of silver in it. The rear of the speaker is a more ordinary dull grey, but that's not really a problem as you aren't going to point the speakers away from you! At the top of each speaker there is the Sony logo in big lettering, in the same sort of style you have seen on the PlayStation controller. There are speaker holes all over the speaker in a square arrangement but if you hold them up to the light you will realise that around half of them are filled in. Below each speaker you will get a R or L indicator which you will use to easily be able to tell which speaker is which. There is also a big hole in the speakers for the bass, which are quite impressive and give the impression that they are going to be quite loud. To the rear of the speakers you get a short cord which ends in an earphone jack that will plug into any device with the appropriate socket (CD player, iPod , etc). Overall it looks quite stylish and gives the impression of a good quality speaker.

The Sound
These speakers need no batteries and you can simply plug them straight in and enjoy your music. After you have plugged them in to the earphone socket of your CD player (or other device) as soon as your music starts the speakers will begin to omit a small noise. A small noise is about right to describe the sound I was hearing, the sound was really quite pathetic. It was really quiet and tinny, despite the volume on my CD player being on full, I couldn't make out any of the words! In fact if you put in a regular pair of headphones and turn the volume to maximum the sound level and quality and sound level would be about the same. This was really disappointing as the speakers definitely look the part, I have since tried them plugged into my TV and PC with similar results, I suppose I was expecting rather a lot from the speakers especially since they take no batteries but being no louder than a regular pair of headphones is simply unacceptable. Unless you like your music so quiet it is barely audible and to sound like it is coming out of a tinny AM radio, I find these speakers hard to recommend.

Price & Conclusion
I found this pair of speakers on Play.com for £9.99, and they will probably be around the same price at any high street electrical store. For the money I may have been expecting too much but I was atleast expecting the speakers to be a bit louder, especially as they have an air hole for a good quality bass! I recommend you purchase a pair of earphones or invest a little more in some active speakers. 2/5
