A Piano in the Pyrenees: The Ups and Downs of an Englishman in the French Mountains (Audio CD):
... think the best way to describe this audio book would be to say its a very, very nice story. I know that s a bit lame but it really does sum it up nicely, as nothing truly exciting or amazing happens in it, but it is still very good and well worth listening to. As with all of the Tony Hawks books, the book is a true story about an event in his life. In this case, it is about him buying a house in France, and all ... Friends Like These (Audio CD) ... am a big fan of the Danny Wallace and Dave Gorman books and this one by Danny is probably my favourite so far. This audio version is read by Danny himself which always makes it so much better to listen to. Approaching 30, Danny decides to update his address book after receiving a parcel from his mum containing a few of his things from his childhood. The address book contained all his old school friends from various parts of the country (I assume his parents job involved various moves), and Danny sets about tracking them all down to catch up and update the address book. I think the story is about 3.5 hours long but it is very, very, funny and something that really ge... Read the full review: The Best One Yet by arrnoosa |

Many people deplore his outspoken atheism and attacks on the evils of religion, calling him "shrill" or worse, accusing him of the kind of fundamentalism he himself opposes. On the other end of the scale are those who find his emphasis on empirical reason and the promotion of science a breath of fresh air in a world that seems to be increasingly in the thrall of the superstitious and irrational. My views on the Prof fall firmly into the latter camp. As far as I m concerned, the more people there are taking a stand against the excesses of religion, the better. But to concentrate on his anti-... Read the full review: Meet the ancestors (there's millions of them) by Susanna75 |
