Paul Temple and the Vandyke Affair (Audio CD):
... Temple and the Vandyke affair is another classic crime mystery thriller by Francis Durbridge. The series was introduced to radio in 1938 with Hugh Morton as Paul and Bernadette Hodgson as his ever glamourous wife, Steve (a psuedonym). Durbridge was so intent on ensuring that nobody knew the infamous eighth episode before it was recorded, that he didn t send out that script. It is the little details like thi... News of Paul Temple (Audio CD) ... audio CD is a rendition of Francis Durbridge s novel, which was written in 1940. The story features crime novelist and detective Paul Temple, who also stars in many other stories by Durbridge, which are also available on audio CD. The story is narrated by Anthony Head, who you may know as Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer or from his roles on the BBC productions Little Britain and Merlin . I got this CD partly because I am a big fan of Anthony Head, and fancied hearing him read an audio book. I wasn t dissapointed - his voice has a lovely tone and he reads the book in an engaging manner, managing to add interest to even the duller scenes. His array of voices ... Angels and Demons (Audio CD) ... and Demons by Dan Brown, is probably best known as the author of the Da Vinci Code and this audio version is read very ably by Richard Poe. Richard added to my enjoyment as a narrator he was very easy to listen to and gave the various characters some added identity which served to make the whole thing more entertaining. A beautiful Italian physicist, Vittoria Vetra and a Harvard professor of religious iconology, Robert Langdon join forces in a frantic race through the streets of Rome, attempting to follow some indecipherable clues on the path of illumination. The clues lead to various churches dotted around the streets of Rome. To make things even more tense, four... Read the full review: Science versus Religion in tense triller by Good_Guy |

Whiteout (Audio CD) ... bought this CD to listen to on a long plane flight, and I didn t regret it, although I admit I m not much of a fan of thrillers. To me, Follett s prose and plotting both seem very workmanlike; but perhaps that s appropriate when all you want is an brisk, exciting story, with motivations and events simply and clearly conveyed. I can say I was never bored, and that had a lot to do with David Tennant s reading - largely in his own accent, appropriately, given the story s Scottish setting. I particularly admired Tennant s ability to assume different voices as necessary, from deep, gruff men through teenagers to breathy young women ("Time for a wee shag?"); he gave...
