The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett is one of the best children's books I have ever read and to have it on an audio CD was brilliant. The novel was first published in 1911 and it is by far Burnett's most popular book. It is a children's novel that has the most wonderful story and is 234 pages making it less appealing to children! However, the audio CD effectivly cancels out this issue for your children. I really would recommend this audio CD because it is very well read by Beryl Reid in an engaging voice and perhaps more importantly it is a beautiful book. You cannot go wrong with this....It maybe bound up under a `classic` label and surrounded by an aura of English Victoriana, but it is actually very modern, wild and extremely magical tale. It is of the great books for children and adults that is truly influential to the spirit. The listener shall glow. It invigorates the soul through prose that envelopes the interactions of the changing sides to simple characters. The children's perspective is straight-forward and inquisitive for revelations beyond their own stubborness.
