“ Author: Terry Pratchett / Genre: Fiction / Sci-Fi & Fantasy „
I have had to undertake some very long car journey's and thanks to Tony Robinson and Terry Pratchett they time has passed more rapidly than just listening to the radio. I have a lot of the Terry Pratchett books on tape, but my Favorite is 'Wyrd Sisters'. To say that the book is either fantasy or humour would be to under rate the story, it is both as well as being very cleverly written. The audio book is enhanced by the many vocal talents of Tony Robinson who has such a wide range of voices which all sound like you imagine them to be if you had read the book. The audio book is true to the story which is the sixth in the Discworld series and follows the exploits of the Kingdom of Lancre, where a pot similar, but also different to that of Macbeth is taking place. A king has been murdered by an ambitious duke, but due to some luck, some bravery and the meddling of three witches the air to the throne is saved. The problem is that he is only a baby, and the land does not like the new king, so it objects, enter the witches who meddle and interfere until things sort of sort themselves out. This book introduces us to characters which become established and well loved Discworld inhabitants. Granny Weatherwax, the spinster and no nonsense witch, Nanny Ogg, who is fond of her drink and who's daughter in laws are scared of, but still appears to us to be loveable and kind, and Magrat, the newest witch, who is still learning and ends up falling in love with the longest kiss in history, but that was due to the magic not her perseverance! If you do get addicted to these audio books most of the Discworld books are on tape, and the voices remain constant with the story following on, I would highly recommend these books!
