The Humectant Pomade was recommended to me as I have a natural afro. I was very excited to use this product - as I had been searching for a number of years to find a product that would benefit my hair type. I do have to say that I was truly disappointed with the Pomade. Once I had applied it to my hair and styles it - within no time at all, (after blow drying and straightening) my hair went straight back to its natural afro state. The Pomade has a beautiful fragrance and feel to it, and did (on application) leave my hair feeling smooth - just very dry within a matter of moments. I tried several different ways of application, directly onto the roots, onto my scalp and directly onto my hair, all three processes resulted in the same result!

I am a huge fan of Aveda products, however, the pomade did not agree with my natural afro. My sister used the pomade on her hair which is chemically relaxed and she achieved the salon finish. Her hair is very thick - mine is thick, soft and natural.

I bought the Pomade in House of Fraser - I cannot remember the cost as I bought a number of other Aveda products at the time - I do remember it being a reasonable price though. I followed the instructions (on the leaflet), also on another occasion applied directly to my scalp and rubbed into my hair before blowdrying. I even took it took my hairdressers for them to use in my hair as I thought there maybe another way to apply - they had the same result as me and I had to rewash my hair. Be mindful though as all afro hair is different - it may work for yours.
