Advantages: natural, light smell, not overwhelming, leaves hair bold but not brassy

Disadvantages: expensive

Aveda's Blue Malva conditioner was sitting minding its own business on my best friend's bathroom shelf when I walked in to have a shower. Not having my own conditioner, I boldly helped myself to a squeeze from the tube.

The colour is amazing. It is sort of a light lavender colour, slightly blueish. It isn't what I expected, and I looked at it anxiously before lathering it on to my hair. I sniffed it - a delicate herbal aroma, understated enough that it rinses out well and doesn't smell too pungent afterwards.

Unlike many conditioners, this one is not too thick. Just a small amount went a long way - which is lucky, because once I got out of the shower I found out how expensive it was.

This conditioner is intended for blonde hair, but mine is more light brown with ash-blonde/copper bits. It still worked wonders, making the copper bits richer and less brassy. It rinsed out well, not leaving any residue. The next day my hair was still clean-looking, whereas many conditioners make it heavy or greasy.

I would definitely consider buying this, although some Aveda products have not suited my hair. The only downside is price - all Aveda products are quite expensive. Still, you can be reassured that they are good quality. And there is a certain pleasure in buying expensive luxuries for oneself, and making yourself feel valuable enough to spend money on yourself.

It is unlike most conditioners and I liked it very much. But, like with all haircare products, whether it suits your particular hair type or not is quite hit and miss. Since this is too expensive to buy on a whim if it isn't perfect, I suggest that you go and buy a (much cheaper!) small sample tube of this. It goes quite a long way anyway, and you can see if it suits you.

God, is it really £17.00 for a bottle?? Eek...I used to buy Sheer Blonde meself, then discovered Timote (sp??) highlighting shampoo/conditioner and love that now (and the price!)....hmmm, idea for an op!
