Advantages: Helps hold hair in place, gorgeous scent, great for fancy dress
Disadvantages: Leaves hair feeling dry and brittle
Here I go again, on my never-ending quest to tame my dry, heat and colour-damaged, frizzy hair. Aveda products have such an excellent reputation with their natural ingredients, delightful scents and excellent results. In fact, all of my previous experiences of using the Aveda range have been very happy ones...until now. Not only do I have highlighted hair, I also use straightening irons in order to restore some semblance of order to its generally unruly frizziness. After listening to my hair care concerns, the assistant at my local Aveda counter recommended Confixor, assuring me that it would help protect my locks from heat styling and keep it tamed. Wow! A product that could do all of that... with MY hair! Plus it contains the Morikue protein that makes my hair so soft when using Aveda Curessence conditioner. My expectations were high indeed. Mindful of the richness of Aveda products, I applied only a very small amount of Confixor to my hair after washing, paying particular attention to the dry, flyaway ends. Then I set to work, drying and straightening my locks. Lulled into a false sense of security by the delightful Aveda scent, I was feeling rather pleased...until I tried to run my fingers through my hair and took a good look at the results. Aaaaarrrrggghhh!!! Instead of smooth, soft, shine, my hair felt dry and brittle. To make matters worse, not only did it feel like straw, it looked like straw, too. Obviously, Confixor must work for some people - see the other opinion in this section - but it certainly didn't do the trick for me. Perhaps it would be better suited to those of us without dry hair and who don't regularly use heat-styling equipment. On the plus side, my local Aveda counter always offer to refund your money if you are unhappy with your purchase, so I didn't actually waste any cash. If you feel you'd like to try Confixor but aren't sure whether it
would be right for your hair, it's well worth buying it from a vendor with a similar policy. (I understand that qvc.co.uk have a 30 day money back guarantee and most Aveda stockists also offer to refund your money if you are dissatisfied. Check before buying to be on the safe side.) It's also possible to buy a small trial bottle of Confixor for £4. Please don't let this opinion put you off trying the Aveda range, as they make many excellent products for those of us with dry, frizzy hair. But I'm sorry to say that the only reason I would ever consider using Confixor on my hair again would be if I was to enter a fancy dress competition as the Scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz", where I would undoubtedly win first prize.

- 22/04/02 I'm not sure exactly how much the full-sized container costs but it's bound to be quite a scary amount. (I'm not surprised you nearly fainted!)
With Aveda products, you generally need to use so little of it that it does work out much more economically than it sounds. For instance, I bought a huge salon-sized bottle of Aveda Sapmoss shampoo, costing about £43, that has lasted me for several months and there's still loads left. The initial outlay is the scariest bit. |

- 22/04/02 Good thing you were able to get your money back!
Nearly fainted when you mentioned trial version costs £4... how much does full size cost?! For me that's enough for a shampoo and conditioner :) |

- 19/09/01 I'm regularly tempted to do the same. :-) |
