Advantages: Fast and Easy
Disadvantages: None
I was afraid of conditioner! But not anymore. I hated conditioning my fine hair because it always looked dull and lank a few hours after using one, and was impossible to style. But if I didn't use one my hair was full of static electicity and shredded on the ends. Then one day I found the answer Aveda. I started out carefully using the rosemary and mint the lightest strenth in the range and there was great nothing to be scared of here. But once I had built up a little confidence I wanted more, something that worked as well but took less time. Elixir Leave-on Conditioner dare I, well I got up my courage and tried it and yes everything was fine. I could condition my hair it didn't end up looking like a dirty dishmop and I didn't need to wait a few minutes and rinse it out. This is a lovely product made from organically grown herbs including rosemary, peppermint, lavender and aloe. It smells lovely and leaves the hair soft shiny and lightly fragranced. The reason that it doesn't leave your hair oily is that it's water based. Just wash your hair preferably with an Aveda shampoo, dab of any excess water with a towel and apply a little of the liquid to your hair starting at the ends. I always warm the conditioner in the palms of my hands as this expands it and helps to spread more evenly. Comb it through and do everything else as usual. It really does save time as application takes only seconds. I know 'a little' is not a precise measurement, but it depends on the length and thickness of your hair. I would suggest trying a little less than you would normally use and experimenting with more if you think you need it. I have fine shoulder length hair and find a blob about the size of a 10 pence is sufficient. The consistency is quite light, more like a serum and is not sticky or heavy. It also has sun protectant properties, so it is a good product to use in the summer. I
have tried combing some through dry hair and tying it back while on holiday, this gives you protection on the beach, but washes out easily in the evening. Without this conditioner I would be late for a lot more appointments. You can buy Aveda products from salons throughout the country. I find that on the internet the two best stockists are qvcuk.com or hqhair.com. The price I paid was £14.00 for 500ml and it has lasted me over six months using it every other day.

- 10/06/01 Very expensive, but if you only need a small amount at atime then it must be worth it. Well structured op. |
