Advantages: Smells yummy, softens and eases tension in tired and achey feet
Disadvantages: Doesn't absorb quite as well as advertised
Now there are two things you need to know about me (well actually there are probably more but these two things are particularly relevant to this review!), I actively seek out miracle cures and I have problem feet.
I was first alerted to Aveda Foot Relief having seen it recommended in the The Handbag Beauty Bible, it was rated number one for dealing with feet like mine. At first I was a little reluctant to buy as I balked at the price, £15, and I find the Aveda counters more than a little intimidating.
The blurb about Foot Relief by Aveda
'If your feet have it rough, treat them to a soothing creme blended with active herbs, exfoliating fruit acids and plant-derived oils like jojoba and castor. Even tough, stressed feet are smoothed, cooled and moisture-charged.
Invigorates sore, tired feet and legs
Softens and smoothes calluses and dry patches
Helps deodorise with lavender and rosemary oils
Absorbs quickly'
The lure of a wonder product was too much and I soon succumbed. I got my cream and took it home ready to use after my shower the following morning. The first two things I noticed were the smell and the consistency. The smell like many Aveda products (yes, I have been converted) is delicious, in this case a mix of minty, cough candy twist and herbal aromas. The consistency is slightly runny which surprised me because I expected something a little thicker, especially given the price I had paid. I rubbed it into my feet right up to the ankles, be aware that you don't need too much or else you will be rubbing it in all day. It rubs in fairly well although I did feel a slight slippiness to my feet but it felt really therapeutic rubbing it into my feet. I took the opportunity to really massage it in and it did seem to sooth my aching feet. It is very cooling so just right if you have been on your feet all day. As an added bonus it really softens your feet but like any product of this nature you need to use it religiously every day. You will find yourself drawn back to it though as it is so smooth, softening and smells delicious, it brings life back to your feet!
I soon decided to change my routine and apply it at night before going to bed. I just massage it in and pop some socks on (as however sparing I am I still find it a tad slippy). You need to be a little wary the next morning when you go in the shower as in my experience it can be a little slidey when wet.
Aveda products are more expensive than your common or garden creams and potions because they are made of natural stuff and follow eco-friendly practices. For example, Foot Relief is made of Castor oil, Fruit acids, Jojoba oil, Lavender oil and Rosemary Oil.
I would really recommend Foot Relief, it smells delicious, smooths and softens your feet (you can use it on tired legs too) and although the price may seem a bit prohibitive, a little does go a long way.
Aveda tends to be available in large Boots and department stores like Selfridges and House of Fraser. You can also buy online.
