... unisex. So a boy can use this product and not smell like a girl! I think that if you have long and thick hair you will hardly notice any difference after using this product. But if your hair is fine and short you should give it a try because it can really change your styling routine. The only problem with all Aveda products is the price. £15 is a bit too much for a styling foam... I personally haven't decided yet if I'm going to buy another bottle when this one runs out!...more

Premium Review Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam: Great product for fine hair (288 words)
by - written on 14/04/08 (Very useful, 136 readings)
Rating:

I always knew that Aveda was a great brand and used to go to their hair salons from time to time. After one of this visits the hairdresser suggested me to try the Phomollient. My hair is quite fine and this was supposed to give them volume and strength. At that time I had longer hair and used styling foam every day. I started using Phomollient and really liked it: it's very light and non-sticky, made of organic botanicals and smells really nice. But there was a little problem: it didn't do its job. It was just too weak to really use as a styling foam, at least on my long hair. It stayed just as flat as before, with no extra volume. So I put the bottle aside ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review when the mousse is not just a mousse (446 words)

Rating:

I first started using the aveda phomollient about a year ago. I could not find a mousse that i was happy with. Most mousses left my hair feeling like a brick and then I would get the mousse drying out in my hair and flaking out, never mind trying to get the brush through it. I find that this is about the only styling product that I need to use in my hair as it adds volume to my rather flat and lifeless shoulder length hair. This is a mousse that can be used on all types of hair whether you are lucky to have thick hair or unfortunate to have hair like mine. It is also great if you have coloured and permed hair as this can help prolong the life ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam: A mousse for folks who hate hair mousse! (181 words)
by - written on 17/08/00 (Very useful, 254 readings)

Every manufacturer claims their product really is different in some way - well this is a hair mousse which is absolutely unlike any other I've tried, and I've tried most of them! First of all it looks different. it's in a clear plastic bottle, which at least has the advantage of your always being able to tell how much you've got left. Secondly, there's no aerosol. The liquid is whipped up by a nifty little device in the pump. The resulting consistency is quite mousse like, but perhaps 'wetter'. The main difference here, though, is how it affects your hair. This is essentially a very light hold mousse. So if you like the natural look, don't ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Whipped to a frenzy (178 words)

Rating:

Phomolient is like no other hair mousse on the market. With this product what you see is what you get. A full 200ml of product, no half canisters of air to propel the product, just a whipping widget that makes the mousse instead. The texture is a little wetter than other mousses but that does not affect its power to hold hair. Although, if you want a more structured/firm hold try Aveda's Flax seed & aloe. The aroma is typically Aveda. Pure, botanical and fresh. Although not at all overpowering, it will not clash with your normal perfume. It just gives great results on wet or dry (yes dry) hair and it leaves no unsightly residue or ...  Read the complete review
