Advantages: Smells nice, Value for money, The feel of your hair after you have used it!
Disadvantages: Not readily available.
When I first told my mates I’d paid £20 for a bottle of shampoo they looked at me in awe as if to say “do you realise how many pints that is?” But slowly but surely they are coming round to the idea of why looking after your mullet isn’t so much an expensive business – especially when us blokes need to be looking our best! Walking into House of Fraser I knew what I wanted before I went in. So when the girl asked if she could help me I had no shame in saying I wanted the one litre size of Aveda Camomile Shampoo. She was only too obliging and as I paid my £20 I gained the reassuring feeling that my hair would never be the same again. Ok so maybe I’m talking like the typical brainwashed consumer…? For years I’d spent money on shampoo – 99p bottles from the local supermarket and it just didn’t seem to feel right. The plasticy coating of silicon from your average shampoo (that’s what gives it the shiny look – apparently) wasn’t doing my hair any good. After all in years to come I might not have any hair so may as well look after it whilst I do! The next time you are in Boots pay particular attention to the price of shampoos for 100ml. It’s the little price tag that says £4.99 per 200ml (2.49 per 100ml). Compare the likes of Vidal Sassoon at £5 for a bottle not even half the size of what I bought and you will see my Aveda shampoo isn’t anywhere as expensive as it sounds. The added bonus is that the average bottle lasts you up to six months in daily use Made from plant-based ingredients it helps to lighten my hair and gives it a natural shine. People have commented on how good my hair looks ever since I started using it. Not to mention the wow factor with the women (I wish)! There’s an increasing emphasis upon us males to take care of our appearance and I’m all for it! Watch out for my other reviews on the many other products
I use.

- 08/08/02 With rare exceptions, you get what you pay for. Using higher-end shampoo is like the difference between nylon and cashmere. |

- 22/04/02 I would never pay that much. In fact I was at the hairdressers the other day and a girl who owns it, said the more expensive a shampoo , the more chemicals are in there.
My hair is in good condition and I just use anything I can get on offer.
It's the name you pay for, they just brainwash the public into making you think it's good stuff. |
