Advantages: Does it's job well enough

Disadvantages: A bit pricey considering it doesn't have the 'Wow' factor

A few months ago I was lucky enough to stay in the Westbury Hotel in Dublin. In case you didn't read my review of it, The Westbury is a super-swanky hotel in the heart of Dublin. As with most super-swanky hotels, they give you super-swanky toiletries in your bathroom. In this case, we were lucky enough to be given Aveda Rosemary Mint Toiletries. A few days ago, I was scrabbling round in my cupboard and found them all, so here comes the review......

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo comes in a tall, 250ml, pearlescent bottle with a green lid. The shampoo itself is also pearlescent and slightly runny. When applied to wet hair, it lathers up really well and rinses clear quite quickly (although I live in a hard water area, so results may differ according to your local water).

The main smell of the shampoo is mint - a proper mint essential oil smell, that is, very zingy and not sugary at all. There is also an undercurrent of Rosemary, but you have to concentrate a bit to pick it out. The minty smell does wonders for waking me up in the shower and makes my scalp tingle!

I have slightly dry, highlighted hair that I tend to wash every day (I have two toddlers and by the end of the day my poor hair tends to have a fair bit of peanut butter/chewed up biscuits/snot smeared in it). This shampoo made my hair feel well conditioned, but not heavy and clean but not too dry. A good balance, all in all.

Like I mentioned, my samples came free (well, built into the price of the hotel room), but you can get this shampoo for around £10 a bottle from Boots.

I am going to carry on using this shampoo, but once all my samples run out I don't think I'll bother buying it as I can get the same results from a bottle of much cheaper shampoo. I don't begrudge paying a tenner for a bottle of shampoo, but only if the results make me go 'Wow!'

I'd wouldn't dissuade anyone from buying this shampoo if you happen to be in the market for splurging, or if you particularly like mint, but I'd have to say that there are better premium shampoos out there (e.g. the Catwalk/Bed Head range).

Summary: Worth a try, but it won't change your life...

I like the Aveda products. No WOW factor though, hey? I don't think I would like my hair smelling of mint though. Good review.

A bit too pricey for me.
