***Smooth Infusion Shampoo for Women***

First of all I will explain a little bit about the history of Aveda. It is a company that specialises in Shampoos, conditioners and other hair styling products. They also sell a selection of hair brushes, body care, a small amount of makeup, candles, perfumes and a men's range.

The company was founded 32 years ago. The prices are quite a lot higher than the regular hair products you would buy in places like Boots. This is because Aveda is part of the professional hair styling industry which uses botanically based products (plant extracts) and Aveda also seeks to look after the environment with the ingredients they use. Aveda is available in 24 countries which explains how worldwide the company is.

***How I ended up buying some Aveda shampoo***

As I walked through House of Fraser 3 months ago I was traffic stopped by a girl on the Aveda counter. I didn't mind because I was waiting to meet a friend so I stopped and let her introduce some of Aveda's products to me.

I ended up walking away having purchased a £37.50 shampoo. Yes I have no idea what was going through my head to spend that on a bottle of shampoo. Madness!

***Pros to this shampoo***

When I got it home it looked nice in my shower because it was the bigger size of their shampoo bottles (1 litre). I also loved the smell of it which was what tempted me to buy it in the first place.

I am now 3 months later and still have two thirds of it left which is nice (I haven't had to bother buying another one).

However....

***Cons to this shampoo***

I keep asking myself.... is a bottle of shampoo worth such a hefty amount of money? Well if I am being honest....NO! And I am a uni student so it was the most stupid idea to buy it in the first place. I usually use Head and Shoulders which has always treated me fine. I have to say that I don't see any difference in the strength of my hair or feel of my hair after it has been washed compared to my Head and Shoulder's shampoo.

***What the shampoo claims to do***

It is called Smooth Infusion shampoo because it is supposed to smooth and silken your hair up to 60%! Which is a massive percentage if it actually did. It is also supposed to reduce frizz and fly away hairs, however my hair is never frizzy anyway so I can't really comment on that.

The one feature that drew me to buying it (other than the smell) was that it helps to protect your hair from heat damaging/ styling and since I straighten my hair every day I thought that was a good idea.

The first time I used it I thought wow my hair feels so nice.... but in reality I think I was just trying to fool myself to rationalise with myself for paying nearly £40 on it in the first place.

I'm just thankful that I didn't buy the conditioner to go with it too at the hefty price of £52.50 (which really is a ridiculous amount to spend on any conditioner!)

Aveda does sell the smaller sizes of these too which are 250ml each. The shampoo costing £13.50 and the conditioner costing £15.00 which sounds more reasonable. However if you do the maths... if I were to buy over a period of time 4 small shampoos this would make up the 1 litre shampoo that I bought in the first place and 4 of these 250ml would cost £54 altogether when the 1 litre shampoo costs £37.50. So in that respect it makes far more sense to buy the larger sizes if you were to buy it. I wish they did a 500ml as the jump from 250ml to 1 litre is quite big.

***My opinion***

I would say that if the shampoo cost £15.00 for 500ml I would continue buying it, but I haven't seen any difference in my hair since using it so it isn't worth the money I spent on it, therefore I wouldn't buy it again and I wouldn't recommend it to a friend unless she had money to throw away! Sadly I wasn't terribly impressed.
